Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This article is about actual research done to see just how long today's vaccines will protect a dog--the vet who conducted the research is urging vets to vaccinate less frequently. Of course, this comes at a time when many vets are already struggling to pay the bills, so who knows if they will listen--that is why we will have to advocate for our pooches!

I just came across a Link to this website with Vaccine info..
by Dr Jordan a Vet who ahs written a book Mark of the Beast.
(I haven't read it..but thought you can't have too much information.)
Rodney, the lepto vaccine may or may not be included in puppy shots. You would need to check with your vet to find that out.
If DerbyDoodle has not had the vaccine yet I would suggest that you research the vaccine and then discuss with your vet the pros and cons of having or not having it in your area.
I'm hoping as more pet owners become aware of and concerned about this over-vaccination issue that a less expensive titer test will become available. I found this one on line but my vet is not using it and I don't know anything about it's accuracy or if Dr. Shultz is the inventor as he is on the site too.
I've mentioned before that Tara is in her fourth year and still titer tests strongly for parvo and distemper after only receiving one distemper and 3 parvo puppy shots. I plan to continue using the titers and would love to be able to do so with rabies too but since the state doesn't accept it as legal evidence of coverage I'm still stuck vaccinating for it every 3 years. Thanks for posting this info.
@F, I think the only titers available right now are for distemper, parvo, adenovirus-2 and rabies. I don't know why, if they are considered the most life-threatening of the communicable canine diseases or ?
It's in pdf format so please email me and i will send it to you. It's a Global Protocol for vaccinations with the scientific reasons to back it up. PS Karen approved;) nickyh59@gmail.com
I posted this a few weeks ago. It was sent to my by an excellent vet here in Ireland Pete the Vet can be found on FB if you are interested. It's quite a read but well worth it. I sent it to my vet as Riley is due his yearly shots and well check next month. My vet emailed me back to say that Riley only needed Bordatella and Leptospirosis as he was covered for the core vaccines until 2015.
It is more expensive, but I titre both dogs and both have not had ANY vaccines in the past few years - except 3-year rabies and Peri gets kennel cough. Tacky has been 4 years without vaccines aside from rabies because he has been immune!
Libby is due in June for vaccinations and I will definitely take this article with me! This has me worried and confused as to what she should or should not have in June.
Here is what I'm trying to figure out ... if the Vet's are giving the vaccines and don't want to stop doing it yearly for money reasons, and Titre testing is so expensive then why wouldn't they just start suggesting Titre testing instead of vaccines ... wouldn't they make more money that way?
