For the past few days Guinness has been very thirsty..and it's not even hot here. He drains his water dish and then looks for more. As a result, he's having to Pee often (at least every one to two hours) and has started having little accidents (very unusual). Any thoughts on why he would be this thirsty?

Doodles have a risk of getting diabetes, make sure there isn't a lot of extra sugar in his food ie: flour, corn, corn meal, corn in any form. Read lables carefully, you will be surprised how much sugar (filler) is in dog food. Murphy used to drink constantly, I make his food now and he doesn't drink constantly anymore and his behavior is more consistant.

His name is Guinness and you want to know why he drinks so much??? He's looking for the fresh clean taste of Guiness beer in his dish that's likely why!! lol ;)

Mine drink a lot also, winter and summer. Would have him checked by your Vet for the peeing. Could be a few things to look for...UTI, Diabetes can cause secondary bacterial infections and dehydration. The cause of diabetes in dogs isn’t known but medical experts feel heredity, obesity and the taking of certain medications increase the chances of a dog developing diabetes. Diabetes mellitus can affect any age, breed or sex of dog.

Both my doodles drink a lot of water but if this is something new, maybe just call and ask your vet.

Any other symptoms, meds or supplements that may be related? Maybe you need a vet check for a UTI. All the licking could be allergies or a reaction to new shampoo?
