Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I love the blogs on here that I have of different phases in Jack's life because it is like his "baby book"

Jack is doing very well at four years old.. This year instead of titers like we did for three years before, we did the three year vaccine... Mostly for money reason but also, I am okay with a vaccine booster three years later or I am telling myself that because I didn't really have a choice. :)

Jack also had to get his Rabies Vaccine.. We actually leave in a little while today to get it.. I wish we could have separated the vaccines by years but we had to settle for weeks.

Jack weighs in at 19 pounds right now... His favorite food by far is the freeze dried Stella and Chewy though I make him eat kibble with it because I can't afford not to.. He is currently eating Acanna and doing well with that.

Food Intolerances.. Chicken and Beef.

Teeth need to be cleaned..... I failed at maintaining brushing them.... so we are going to do that when I get back from CO.

He is doing super well on the "replacement dose of cortisol, he finally has caught up with where he should be and then some with weight"

Jack's personality is just adorable for me.. I honestly don't believe he knows he is a dog... He much prefers to hang out with humans then dogs any day...... When we sit outside.. He always sits on the chair next to me and looks at me as if he is ready to engage in a great conversation.

He believes fully in the right to go where ever I am going and fully expects to go. When I get my purse, he stands next to me.. It is very sad when he can't go and I explain he has to go to his "office" which is the bathroom. I do not let him have free reign of the house because he is little and likes to jump on and off furniture and I don't want him to fall and hurt himself.

Jack is a strong communicator... unfortunately you have to be looking at him at all times to know what he wants.. including when he has to go potty... doesn't work well when I am sleeping.

Jack will come get me when he is hungry for a snack by walking into the room I am in and staring at me.. He won't stop staring until I get up and tell him to show me.. he will either lead me to the back door for potty, to the treat bin for treats, to the food bowl for his food or to the front door for walks..

Jack has turned into a night owl.. Sleeps all day and wants to party all night including asking for walks around 2 am.. and seriously looking hurt when I say no... (though I admit sometimes I cave and do it)

He still has strong reactions to cats.. He just loves them so much and as a puppy he was not around them so they are a novel thing for him.. He goes crazy for them, cries and whines and carries on as if he is a baby to get to them.. All he wants to do is snuggle with them and play with them... He has had his face slapped a few times by cats but he doesn't care.. He is bound and determined to make friends with them.

If there was such a thing as a non shedding cat.. I seriously would consider getting him one as a companion because they seem to make his world go round.... but for sanitary reasons we just can't......

I feel like I blinked and my baby was four.. I am afraid to blink again because I am certain he will be eight..

You and Jack are such a perfect match, Jennifer.  Sounds like he knows what he wants and has figured out how to get it :) That's adorable.  Wishing you and Jack many healthy loving years ahead.

Time really does fly and even more so the older you get. :<( It's great to hear that Jack is doing so well, but I have to say you are a better mom than I am because there is no way I am going out for a walk at 2 am. Wishing you and Jack lots and lots of good and healthy years together.
