Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
What an amazing week it has been. It started last Saturday after Lacey and I came back from our morning run. DH was sitting on the couch enjoying his Saturday morning coffee when Lace trots into the room and hops on the couch with him. Granted she made sure that she did not face him or look at him, but she quietly inched her way over to him so her back end was snuggled up against DH and he could give her scratches. I was absolutely amazed as she has never done this before. Even though Lacey will come to give me Good Morning kisses when I wake up she still backs away from us when we approach her.
Then lo and behold another break through on Monday. I am always up and away to work before DH gets up. It is my job to call home once I get to work to make sure he is up to start his day. Anyway this particular morning I call home and DH says "Guess what?" and I say "what?". You could have knocked me over with a feather when he said "Lacey is sleeping in the bed beside me". OMD! this is amazing and you know what? She has jumped into bed every morning this week after I leave for work.
And again today, BAM!, another break through. Lacey participated in her first run of Fox & Hounds with Harlow and F. Ginger. She was dashing around the back yard first playing Fox with Harlow and Ginger running behind playing the Hounds. Then Harlow would take her favorite position of Fox while Lacey and Ginger chased her. Fat boy, Baxter stood happily in the middle of the yard barking at everyone. All I could do was stand there with tears of joy welling up and thinking "Lacey is finally learning how to be a dog".

I think it is so funny how she approached him with her backside to request scratches. It is obvious that you all are learning each other's language. Enjoy!
What a blessing! That's what love can do! You should be so proud!
Yay! That's so wonderful to hear!
Learning how to become a dog happens when you are in a loving home. Kudos to you all.
This is such wonderful news, you guys are the best for taking her in and letting here rediscover her inner loving self!
So happy to hear this! Thanks for all you and your DH have done for Lacey, Nina, it's obvious that the love and care she is getting is making a huge difference!
Nina. I hope you keep a journal so next year you can see how truly far you've come with Lacey.
I often get phone calls and beautiful letters from my foster, Lacey. They not only have the same name but so similar in characteristics.
Now, 2 years later, she camps, she swims, and her mom tells me she RUNS with JOY every day. She loves to Run Run Run <---sound familiar?
You all have a bright Future, Nina.
Tears for the joy of it all.....bless you and your DH Nina.
This is such wonderful news....thanks for teaching her, Nina. Your DH must be pretty special too.
