Ladies and Gentlemen - Please stand to welcome the Grade One Graduate.....Toby! :)

We had our Grade One Graduation on Friday night. It was a regular class, except they were marking every exercise that we did. Toby did quite well. He only got one "keep practising" and that was in the Look at Me part - he's too nosy, and didn't maintain eye contact. :)

The things we got marked on were - Meet and Greet (stay seated and calm as someone walks up to say hello, and then approach someone, sit and stay calm while being petted), Sit Stay (1 minute - felt WAY longer), Down on Signal(like a rock - good boy!), Down Stay (3 minutes - he was a rock star, even when another dog got up and started making its way around the room), Leash Respect (still needs a little work, but quite good), Look at Me, Walking on Lead (the lead was over my shoulder, not in my hand, and surprisingly, he did very, very well), and Random Recall (came from 60 feet away, off leash, like a rocket!). We are quite pleased with his progress.

There is indeed a Grade Two. We should likely do it - it's just a question of committing to practising, and of course, paying for it.

Good Job, Toby and Sandy! Tully has conveniently forgotten kindergarten, but now that my semester is over (I turned in final grades today, yay!), it's back to the grindstone for us!

You're right! I almost forgot that I wanted to quit classes. :) It was SO frustrating in the beginning, but I am very glad we stuck it out. There's hope for all those stubborn, crazy doodles out there. :)
