Lady Peri is an Official Dog and Taquito's Kidney Infection is MUCH Better!

Today was a big day at the vet. A few weeks ago I posted a blog freaking out about Taquito getting a teeth cleaning. The teeth cleaning was delayed due to a kidney infection - glad I did the blood work and we caught it early!

Today I took both pups to the vet, which was quite a task! Taquito's white blood cell count in the kidneys was way down, so the medicine is working! And Peri received her 16 week shots. So...she is officially ready to take on the world! We already took a short walk on the greenway and it is a whole new world for her! Just wanted to update those of you that responded to my crazy blog. Things are going much better now.

And Peri gained over 4 pounds in 4 weeks...I know those of you with standard doodles think that is no big deal, but she is so much heavier now! Everyone at the vet thought she was over 16 pounds, but it is all that hair! Only 13.41 pounds. My sister had guessed 15.5 and I said 13.6, so I won that bet!

One last observation: Peri's coat is changing. We were really looking at it today and under that fluff, it is starting to curl. Especially down the spine of her back - very tight curls underneath. I can't wait to see how she continues to change.

I just read this after I sent you a reply. I am so glad everything worked out. God does answer prayers!! We just missed a tornado today on the way back from Florida. I have every right to believe that it was because my son and I prayed that angels follow over our car today!! Sleep well.

I don't think he will have to do meds his whole life. The doc thinks it is a passing infection, but we will see. I am going to get another test in 2 weeks to make sure the infection is gone and will then schedule teeth cleaning again. And will do blood work again of course. So I will probably do that in August and then Peri gets spayed in September. Will the vet bills ever end? Ha it is worth it. I will post new photos of us on our walks. She is pretty good on a leash. Walked her and Taquito for about 20 minutes this morning and she was passed out before I left for work :)

Glad to hear Taquito is doing much better. Are they still going to do a teeth cleaning for him, and will he need kidney meds for life or is this just a passing incident. Need to post more pics of Peri now that she is growing up and out walking. They still looked so adorable in their buggy.
