Lady Peri's First Day at Doggy Daycare!

So, DH and I decided to try out doggy daycare today. Peri has started crying when I leave room (even if DH is with her), so I was a little worried about her first day at camp. No worries - she ran around and wanted straight in the playroom. I called her name and she didn't want to even look at me! (she does know the smells because that is where we do training every Saturday)

The owner had to conduct a personality evaluation on Peri, but told me to go ahead and leave because they "have never had an issue with doodles - they have awesome temperments!". That made me happy.

Just checked out the webcam and she is running through play areas - especially a slide and jungle gym type thing. I may have an agility queen on my hands!

Thought some of you might enjoy that story, especially what they said about doodles :)

Well Peri loved daycare - she came home exhausted - slept most of the evening and then all night from 11 to 9. She has NEVER slept so long! Her report card from Dogtopia: I like: EVERYONE. I am: THE LIFE OF THE PARTY. I enjoy: PLAYING TUG WITH OTHER DOGS. So cute. I have a photo magnent of her for my fridge - she is covered in slobber from other pups and looks so happy! We are going to do this every Friday. I would love to do more, but it is pricey!

That's really cool that you can view them on webcam. We're a little concerned with Penny about separation anxiety because Jeri and I are at home all the time, so we must try the day care thing with Penny too, it's got to do them some good with socializing too...awesome!

I've told you before that I think daycare is a great outlet for puppy energy. Gracie is a year and a half now and much calmer than before but she still goes to daycare about twice a week. She loves it! Peri will too and tonight she will want to rest and snuggle, not get all her energy spent by you! The agility thing is great too, Gracie and I do it for a team activity. I will probably never have her compete but it is so much fun working with her!

Okay, checked back on her 3 hours later after my meeting...she was not in the "toyroom" (for smaller dogs). Finally she appeared - was probably in crate for a rest. There are about 6 other dogs in her room - 2 westies, another terrier of some sort, and 3 mixes. They are completely bombarding her! She likes to play by lying on her back and letting them come after her. EVERY dog in the room is around her. I am glad someone is constantly in there watching her. The cute girl workign there just scooped her up! I know Peri is loving the attention though!

That's great for Peri. Glad to hear she is having so much fun.

My dogs are so attached to me too. I get other family members to walk them so they get used to other people and can be away from me. It only helped a little.

Love it. Did you send her there because you had a busy day or did you just want her to be tired when she got home? Or did you want her to socialize with other dogs? How was she when she got home? Very curious....
