Laser light, Flashlight & Sunlight Fixation

Once upon a time Sam discovered he liked to catch lights and reflections. HIs Doodle Dad and he had a great time. Chasing, running and leaping his 86#'s all over the house. He cannot figure out why he cannot catch it, oh how he wants to retrieve it. When the sun shines in the window and leaves its light on the ceiling or floor Sam barks and cries at it, untill we say enough and have him lay down. Sam wants to know if anyone else likes to do this? Jaeger could care less and I think he thinks Sam is a bit bent.

We have not tried this yet with Cali, however our cat loves it and it can be very entertaining. hmmm I wonder if Cali would chase it.....

[Moose&Mica]

I have a laser pointer for the cats.....Moose and Mica chase it with as much energy and enthusiasm as the cats do. There's a big difference between 12 to 18 pounds cats chasing around a light and two dogs who weigh 70 and 40 pounds chasing the same light. :) So far, they don't pay much attention to other types of light...thank goodness. Those just aren't as exciting as the red laser.

Daisy discovered this last year sometime when the boys were playing w/ a flashlight. She caught sight of the reflections moving and immediately had to catch it! To no avail of course! She will chase anything - sunlight, lasers or reflective metal! It is a huge pass time in our house to see how long she will keep at it and usually, we tire out before Daisy! It is soo funny to watch her get so excited and determined to catch it! Our other doodle, Zoe was kind of clueless on what the fun was all about! But Daisy sure makes up the slack!

Other than her reflection in the patio doors, Fenway has not done this yet. We haven't brought out a laser light for her yet, but I have a feeling that would drive her crazy! Maybe we shouldn't try it though since it has turned to a bit of an obsession for Sam. Poor Sam, he just wants to catch the darn thing!
