This is what I woke up to the other morning. The name pretty much says it all.

Sirens, had to be sirens. My poodle did that too. Jay, if you can get a copy of Rebel Without a Cause, Lola can probably do an excellent imitation of James Dean in the police station scene near the beginning of the movie.
:)
Watched it again Jay and laughed harder! This is the "best" video!! I love the way Esau is trying so hard to keep up with his sister!
I love when Lola howls. She throws her little head back and just belts it out from the depths of her soul. She gets this beautiful, intense look of determination in her eyes like she is doing something ancient and primal and critically important. She will woof and shush on command but I don't do it anymore because I found out that getting her to bark for treats was not a wise decision.
TG I live in the suburbs : ) This got Luca's attention for sure.
I had to stop the video because Camus ran over to the computer then behind the couch looking for the source! I had a female dog who the vet thought was half coyote (not kidding) who would howl at sirens and such. She was also the only dog I have had that I was able to teach to bark on command. I use to love to hear her howl.
Banjo!
Lonnie, no it isn't veyr often - Lola only lets us hear her singing voice once in a while as a special treat. At my old house there weren't as many sirens, so she would do it pretty much for every one. When she was a little 10 week old puppy the first time an ambulance went by she ran and jumped up on the back of the couch with her front paws on the window sill and just started howling away. It was hilarious because you would never have expected a sound like that to come out of such a little dog and not any kind of a hound (although I've since learned that some doodles do it too). Where we live now there are a lot more sirens and we live a lot higher up, so she only does it if they are especially loud or close. In fact this was the first time I have heard her do it inside.
So funny Jay! I had to turn down the volume as Banjo dashed right over to see what all the commotion was about. I don't want him learning this particular trick.
Love it!!!! Lola is a pro! How sweet is Esau as he tries to keep up with his sister?!! Thanks for the chuckles and smiles! By the way... Bailey (who barks at everything!) did not even lift her head from the sofa when I listened to this!! What's up with that???
