Lilly is feeling quite comfortable at home. She takes her toys out of the toy box and like my children, never puts them back. She has discovered the poochie bells and can ring it herself. It is very exciting.. two grown people jump out of their chairs/ stop whatever they are doing and let her outside.  She picks up leaves/ twigs/ looks for bugs and by accident goes potty and then whichever parent is out in the yard with her makes a big deal out of it.. like man landing on the moon big deal. and drinks. I mean treats all around.

We visited with a neighbor that has a 5 yr old scotty today. Lilly was over the moon happy and the other dog..not so much. but Lilly did get to try a Bully stick and looked at me as if to say "Zoe has everything and I don't have a thing to play with" so now I am going to buy bully sticks for the girl.

I never see her with her mouth closed anymore.(unless she is sleeping.) busy, busy, busy girl..I am trying to put a toy in her mouth instead of my fingers/ arm/ hand..

She has got the crate thing down. It is in the bedroom so she only goes in there when I put her in the crate. She whines a bit then plops down and goes to sleep. She wakes up about every 2 hours to go potty. Her hours are about 830 to 430am when she is ready to start her day. I need to get her on our schedule, but so far I just get up with her and when she naps, I nap.. I am very lucky not to be working and can nap during the day.

She has  (what I call) a day bed that she drags her toys in and chews on them.  She is not content until all of her toys are out of the box and within pouncing distance. When the spirit moves her, she runs through the house like there is a shoe sale at Nordstrom and she must get there first. then she will plop on the wood floor and go to sleep.

I am going to start putting on her collar and leash tomorrow and let her drag it around so she can get used to it. We do not have a fenced yard and she is starting to become braver and braver by the day. Her days of sticking by us like glue are over and time to put the leash on her when we go out.

So last night she found some poop that wasn't hers.. I hate people that let their dogs run free.  She took me outside every 45 minutes to try and eat that poop.. today she rang her bell and i thought,"No way sister, we have been playing that game all night and day- so I ignored her and she went poop in the dog play pen.

Mimi...me work.  Me can't nap all day.  Me need Lilly to sleep at night!  :-)  She sounds like she is just a sweetie...I am so glad she has crate training down.  Loved your description of racing through the house...sure can't wait till she arrives!  Oh, btw, are you still going away for Labor Day weekend?  We aren't going anywhere, so if we need us to take Lilly for Labor Day weekend, we can do that, too!  Let me know.

@Melody.  I have heard that they can.  I have light-colored carpet, so before I give Rua a bully stick, I put down a towel.  She only gets it when we are watching a movie on the big TV downstairs and she lays on the towel.  She KNOWS the routine.  Friday night date night, grilled steak, red wine, a movie, towel & bully stick.  Last Friday night while we were getting things set up, she pulled her towel off of the bar stool and kept looking up at the counter (where the stick was in a zip-lock bag.  I put the towel down and she ran to it, sat and waited.

She sounds very spirited and like she is adjusting quite well.  I have a question about those bully sticks  - do they stain carpet?
