Looking at Buying a Yard for Choodle

DK friends:  the time is here, the time is now, DH and I are officially on the house hunt, aka "yard hunt for choodle" (chihuahua+doodle)!  Yay, I thought the time would never come.  We are so ready to leave our condo.  It has been a great place to live but I yearn for the day to open the back door and let the dogs run out and play! 

 

The humorous part of our househunt is our priority list.  Seriously, this is what I told our realtor:

 

1. 3+ bedrooms

2. big yard for my dogs, flat enough area to install a physical fence, existing fence is gigantic plus for us

3. not a "project"

 

HA!  Where is the "large kitchen" (although that is important because I cook)??? 

 

Tomorrow we are looking at a house on 2+ acres. I have already driven by and snooped (it is vacant but totally renovated).  Yard looks good for dogs.  Yahoo!  Can't wait.  4 houses tomorrow and all 4 have suitable yards for Peri and Taquito.

 

I am nuts, I know!

 

Oh and also keep in mind I grew up near the city but on 4 acres of lovely, private land. Mom and dad still live there.  We are looking to be in their neighborhood!  I love the outdoors.  Patio + yard + dogs running  = utter bliss for me.

You're in Nashville, right?  I'm in Cane Ridge - plenty close to shopping but land available.  I'd try to sell you our prior house but today we are turning over occupancy to new owners :-)

Good for you.  DH and I downsized from a little over an acre to an older neighborhood a few years ago.  It has really effected me.  We have two storage units/ cars sit out/ and a very small yard.  I constantly worry about the dogs barking and disturbing the neighbors.  I can't wait for the day that he decides that he's had enough and we start seriously looking.  My requirements - large yard and min. 7 car garage.

I lived most of my life in the country.  Unfortunately ended up in divorce a few years ago, moved to a nice townhouse, nice neighborhood.  I slowly died a tiny bit every day, although I constantly told myself how nice it was......But I bought Monty and couldn't keep myself in control anymore, I knew I had to move.  Over a year ago my fiancée and I bought a house in the mountains.  whoo hoo!  I now feel like I'm alive again.  :)  Good luck on your house hunting, I know just how you feel.

Good luck on your search.  Sounds like you just might have found the right place.  So exciting and the doggies are gonna love it.  I just leave my backdoor open all day when I am home and Gracie Doodle has the option of being anywhere she wants.  It is like having a huge house since our house is tiny and the yard is huge.  It opens up a whole new world.  Luckily we have nice enough weather pretty much year round so the door is open most of the time!  Keep us all posted!  fingers and paws crossed!
