Lucy turned 12 weeks old last Friday and went to her 2nd puppy romp yesterday. During her 1st puppy romp, over a week ago, she stayed close to us and didn't appreciate other puppies' approaches. This latest puppy romp was very different... well, different enough for us anyway. She went to all the people, no problem. Loved, loved, LOVED the people.. men, women and children, but ran from the puppies in the first 45 minutes of the session. The last 15 minutes she started making play bows to puppies playing with each other, although she hesitated to join in. How we wished the session lasted longer than an hour! Lucy was just on the verge of hitting a milestone with playing with other pups, when puppy romp came to a close. This is a puppy that came from a litter of 11 puppies! We were so surprised to find she was shy with other puppies during that first puppy romp, since she's so darned outgoing with people. I really think she has potential to be a therapy dog. No other puppy at the romp visited with all the people like Lucy did, and they all loved her as much as she loved them. NOW, if she could just cross that line and learn to love dogs... next week's puppy romp should be a success!
Here's a taste of how much Lucy loves people... these women and child were total strangers to Lucy:
