Lucy turns 18 weeks old

18 weeks old today. Why does it feel we've had Lucy for about 3 years, rather than nearly 3 months? Anyway, I just wanted to express how I'm beginning to feel a real bond with Lucy that had been missing in earlier weeks. I always loved her and felt a connection to her, but that true bond that comes from really knowing another being, that's what I'm talking about. And its a mutual feeling. Lucy is learning to know me too. I love that. Those early puppy weeks we were all so new to each other. Lots and lots of boundaries and limitations had to be set, routines had to be learned, acceptable behaviors encouraged. And yes, we're still working on those, and I think we will be for some time to come, but we are making progress and the results are showing. She and I are beginning to function as one unit, while out on walks and in our daily routine. Its a wonderful feeling!

Isn't it amazing how they just take over our hearts. That bond is very special.

I love the bond that is built through teaching your dog. Darwin and I have grown so close as he has learned his boundaries and moved further in his training. Not to mention playtime and cuddling! I haven't even had Darwin for a year, but I can't imagine life without him.
