Sorry to keep you all in suspense but I have had no time to write! Lyric went through a long night of pacing and panting, but at 4:30 am, things got more serious. By 6:15, she was ready to give birth and hoped right into the whelping box--she made two grunts and out popped puppy #1 --a gorgeous all black male. 15 minutes later, we had a beautiful FAT apricot female followed by another black male with two white feet. The fourth baby was a cream colored girl with some darker areas--almost a grey color--but she was half the size of the others and wasn't sucking strong enough to get food. She is a feisty determined little girl, though and kept trying. We knew we would have to help her out as soon as we had time. Within another 15 minutes (now 1 1/2 hours total) we had another cream colored pup, but larger and a male. This one has lots of greyish spots all over. So, that's the five I was expecting, but Lyric was still panting and Marci was convinced that there was one more pup in there--sure enough, 1/2 hour later, the most adorable black and white pup emerged! We really wanted a particolor like Remi, the dad, and this boy fits the bill. So, 4 boys and 2 girls--cross your fingers for the little one. I am bottle feeding her right now, so no sleep for me!  Lyric did sooo well and is a great mom.

OK--let's get to the pictures!

Look at the size difference between the two females over on the right--yikes!. 6 1/2 oz. and 14 oz. There are 6 puppies in there, but the two black ones blended together!
More tomorrow--must get some zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Ahhh- I got some sleep! The "little one", a.k.a. "Squirt", is still with us, although she is not growing much or catching up to the others. I guess she will look small next to them for quite some time as they are gaining faster than she is. I think she has gained a bit and is still strong and feisty. I appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers headed her way. We shall see how it turns out. The others are fat and sassy, especially the apricot one, who is the biggest and most mature. She barks in a high pitch when she is left out of the pile of puppies for even a second! I call her "porkchop" --the other nicknames (of course, these are temporary!) are "Bear" for the big black male, "twinkle toes" for the black male with white toes, "Cafe au lait" for the large cream male and "Keeper" for the black and white male--you can guess why I call him that--could there be three labradoodles in my future?

So sweet. Happy everything worked out well. Those runts tend to be pretty sturdy from what I;ve read. Good luck.
