Wow--where did the time go? I realized today that the reason I have been a bit "ho-hum" about Christmas is that I am way more excited about the puppies! I have all my decorations up and I am ready for the adult kids to descend, but right after they leave, I am getting the house back in order before I am too busy to clean it all up! So, I believe the word is "Anticipation"--just like the old Carly Simon song. (Who is old enough to remember it?)
Lyric, on the other hand, is all mellowed out-- she has gotten more and more round each day and, instead of running around and playing with toys 24/7, she has gotten to be a really good napper. She loves the coldest corners of the house and will seek them out to sleep in. (Our house was built in 1790 and has no insulation, so there are some really cold corners!) I also notice that she wants to grab up any stuffed animal with a face and hoard it--nesting behavior I am sure. In this house, that is a bit of a problem. I collect and make teddy bears and they are everywhere--I have also put out a lot of Christmas decorations that have attracted her. Normally, she pays no attention to them and just plays with her own toys. But now, she will stand and look at them longingly, then look over at me and woof softly to let me know that she wants them. Luckily, she has been really good at the "leave it" command and has not taken anything...yet.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Wow, down to two weeks already? What a fun way to start the new year.
Of course I remember that song too. Are these solar panels ? If so, are they doing what you expected of them? I always thought I didn't have enough south facing roof for them but it looks like you don't have a huge area.
Wow. Fascinating! Have you ever been to a library to find old maps, land parcels, and other documents? We did this with my husbands house. The local historical society also had information for us.
A beautiful home. You have done a remarkable job retaining its originality. Thanks for writing back and letting me know. I'm even more curious now.
Yes, 220 years old--built right after the revolution. As a matter of fact, there is a legend (not sure it is true) that the house was originally in Massachusetts, but the state line was changed after it was built and it is now in NY. (We are about 6 miles from the MA/NY state line) It is an old farmhouse--nothing fancy!
Yes, I think the sweet faces on the teddy bears are attracting Lyric. She is trying to gather them into one place, I believe. Usually, she ignores them, so this is a new behavior.
Here is a picture of the house--it always needs work--we just put a new roof on and new paint is going on in the spring!
Singing Anticipation. Old enough here. I really like Carly as a singer and a person.
I have one question. Your house is 220 years old? Or is that a typo. Just curious. Interesting if that is true.
Maybe Lyric is looking at the teddy bears because she sees them as babies and wants to nest? Starlit does this with stuffed toys sometimes.
Anyway, best wishes and Merry Christmas to you too.
So exciting. I think many of us are enjoying this pregnancy vicariously. Merry Christmas to you too.
