Has anyone tried fur butter to rid thier doodle of mats. Our boy has some mats and I would like to get some help in trying to eliminate them. Any suggestions?

Well, I've bought the Fur Butter, along with the Itchin for Relief spray and bow wow butter balm for their pads. The Butter Balm is a hit with the girls ..... it smells yummy and they are both sitting here licking their feet. Mind you, getting them to lick their feet was not the objective). I'll try the fur butter on their next bath!

I really like the Cowboy Magic stuff. Not greasy and smells nice. More like a silicone gel than a butter. It was $10.00 for a tube and is lasting quite awhile. Works great. But all the advise thus far is important too.

Well, I don't know if it works or not, but their marketing people should be commended because I'm getting ready to place an order for a couple items.

Join the Grooming Group - you will get a lot of tips on how to loosen up the mats....
Oftentimes a good daily brushing will do the trick. The Grooming Group has great tips on grooming products - you could bring that up there also.

My best advice for mats is to use a thinning shear underneath the mat and brush with a slicker brush or cut into the mat to loosen it and brush. Also don't wash your doodle without getting the mats out

I have never heard of fur butter--honesly, I cannot imagine how one might use it without making a greasy mess of the fur. You learn about something new every day here on DK! I use two types of de-matting combs recommended by our groomer. It is laborious work but the results are great.
