If I had to sum today up in one word, I'd say - normal.
It would seem as though Max has no clue the "BIG GUNS" are gone. He is behaving as usual.
I fed him his favorite, chicken breast, for breakfast and lunch. At dinner - he ate most of his kibble. So, I will now continue feeding him his normal meals (kibble).
This morning, it really hit me that he is a furry kid. I gave him his pain medication, which is chewable, but - he really wasn't interested. So, I decided to break it up and add it to a teaspoon of plain Greek yogurt, which he loves. Just my luck, he wasn't having it. I didn't want to waste the medication because I wasn't sure how he would be today and I only have about three pills. I used my (clean) fingers to feed it to him. There was yogurt everywhere - his face, chest, head, feet, back as well as my counters. I thought that if anyone was a fly on the wall, they would laugh at me for sure. Max really needs a bath. Today, I ordered an Ian Dunbar puppy training DVD on Amazon. I decided to throw in an order of canine conditioner to get some free shipping. I'm waiting with bated breath to give him a bath
He hasn't noticed the incision. He is too busy licking his shaved poodle legs - LOL. FYI - his incision area is looser today meaning (excuse the lovely graphic) - it looks more like an empty scrotum. I suppose yesterday it was a little swollen. They say it will stretch out as they grow. That must be true because my previous dog was neutered and I don't recall any loose skin "down under."
I read today that the testosterone takes a few weeks or months to leave the system so, maybe, just maybe, the humping will calm down. That makes sense and I don't know why that wasn't obvious to me. I think I just was shocked that he got right to "it" first thing this morning. :)
Oh - Uncle Jamie (coworker and friend) brought Max a get well gift. A
Kong Wubba with tiger stripes! How cool is that? Max loves it!
Max is now sleeping in his crate downstairs which he also did last night without a problem. I'll update again tomorrow.
Thanks for the encouragement and warm wishes!
