Hi everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know what's been going on since we had Brady our lab of 10 1/2 years get sick. I asked our doodlekisses family for advice when Brady was sick he wouldn't eat and was getting sick to his stomach and lost alot of weight, I have to admit we tried everything right down to the babyfood. He did like the chicken and rice at first but then gave up on that too. We had him back and forth to the vet for 4 weeks and finally had to make the decision to have him put to rest. It was a very, very hard decision since we had had him since he was 6 weeks old but it was better than seeing him suffer anymore.
We went back and forth on whether to get another dog or not or to wait for the springtime and my husband said to give the breeder who we got Molly from a call and see if she had any. I had looked on her website and there was none listed but I called her anyways we thought we would like a cream colored male that would get rather large. You won't believe this next part.....When I got a hold of the breeder she had one puppy left from her last litter. She had actually had 2 left (2 girls 5 months old) but one was sold and before she was to send it to it's forever home the people called and asked her if they could get the smaller of the two instead of the puppy who they think will be a little bigger. Well I had explained what happened to Brady and how we were thinking of a male in the spring AND here is what she said......She had one female cream colored 5 month old puppy left that was completely crate trained and utd on all of her shots, she has a very good temperament AND (are you ready for this) Her mom and dad are the exact same mom and dad as our MOLLY!!!!!! Molly was born 3-9-08 and Bailee 3-4-10. Talk about fate. So now we were getting excited as to whether or not to get her because Molly is such a good dog or to hold out for a male? It was a week before we could make the long drive to go see her and we took Molly with us. Molly was acting really lonely I don't think she understood where Brady went and this was the first time she was an only dog. We got to the breeders and met Baliee and home we came with her. The first few days was really hard Molly didn't like having her on her own turf very much and was probably still upset about Brady not being there and I was worried they would never get along. We were stressing alot whether we made the right decision. Well 3 days later and things were getting better then a week later,,,,,,
Molly got sick and wouldn't eat and was sick to her stomach. We took her to the vet and they kept her for 3 days. She had blood in her stool and a temp. The vets office was great, it was a holiday weekend and the vet went in several times to check on her and walk her and try to get her to eat. He put her on some medicine did 2 blood test and x-rays to make sure she didn't have a blockage of any kind. Finally her temp came down, and she ate a little and we were able to bring her home last Monday. She is doing good now.
Bailee then went on Tuesday to get spayed (she's 6 months old now) and she is doing good. Her stitches come out this Friday.
As for Molly and Bailee they are getting along GREAT!!!! They are playing most of the time together and it is very fun to watch them. We do still feed them apart from each other but that's about it. Bailee is learning to walk on a leash and seems to be picking things up from Molly which is what we had hoped she would do. Everything seems to be working out pretty good with them, now we are so happy with the 2 of them. I have enclosed a few pictures with more to come. The breeder said that Bailee will probably get a little taller then Molly, it's kinda funny because she is in that clutsy puppy stage and seems like she is all legs.....
