Meet our new foster dog, Norman!

I picked up Norman from a local shelter on Friday. He was found under a house early last week & as soon as my friend Doris saw his picture up on the shelter's Facebook page on Thursday, she called me. She had fostered another doodle earlier this year, but was unable to foster this little guy right now because she had already agreed to puppy sit for a friend over the holidays.

We couldn't stand to leave him, so she contacted DRC & they said pull him. I mean, how could you resist that sweet doodle face?! While that was all happening, I was busy trying to convince my husband that we needed to foster him. I told him, "All I want for Christmas is to foster this doodle!" It worked & he agreed, so we started the process. By Friday at lunch I was headed to the shelter to pick Norman up.

Doris had set up a vet appointment for him at 5:00 pm on Friday, so we headed over there together. It sure is nice to have moral support & another set of ears for listening when you go to the vet!

Norman was obviously neglected, so we've got skin infections to deal with, but no heartworms (yea!). He does not seem to have been abused which is a blessing. He's very social & absolutely loves everyone and everything!

This is going to be a great adventure & I can't wait to see how he progresses! For more pictures of the little guy, I made a photo set on Flickr. You can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/libbydempsey/sets/72157628483337613/

I have also posted this on the Doodle Rescue Collective site!

Pam - We think he may possibly be an Aussiedoodle. He is an absolute sweetie pie -- very active & likes to get lots of lovin'. Per the vet's recommendation we're letting him heal some more before we get him neutered & then he'll be able to be adopted.

An update on how he is doing for DK & the Doodle Rescue is on my to do list this weekend!

Mimi - He was 42.6 lbs when they weighed him at the vet last Friday. I'll try to get an update posted soon to let everyone know how he is doing!

I'm not sure how big he is, he isn't listed yet. But he is in Texas, and I am sure there will be no lack of wonderful homes for him. There are always dozens of applications for our doodles in the Lone Star State!

Mimi, Norman is in foster care, which means he has not yet found his permanent adoptive home. I am sure it will be wonderful, though!
