Meet our new foster Brogan, the digging doodle from Dothan.

Yesterday DH and I took a road trip to Columbus, about 2.5 hours southeast from north side of Atlanta (where we live) to meet a wonderful volunteer from the Dothan Animal Shelter and our new foster boy Brogan. Brogan was owner surrendered because the owner said he digs. Poor guy was a big black smelly mass of mats. Fortunately, the shelter HW tested him and wonders of wonders the test came back negative. After 2 hours of riding with the back windows partially down to counteract the stench we stopped at our local Petsmart to see if they could clean him up. Thank heavens they had an open slot. DH asked if at all possible to please not shave Brogan’s lovely black curls. The groomer said she would try but called within an hour to say that Brogan had some mats that were so bad that he had some open sores. So a bath and a shave were in order for Mr. B. Two hours later we got the call that Brogan was ready to be picked up. Just imagine our surprise when the matted black dood we dropped off came back to us a clean sleek Brindle.

Congrats Nina, wouldn't it be neat if when Brogan's hair grows back in he looks like a parti colored doodle. How is Harlow with her new brother. Can't wait to see pics of them playing together....

You foster folks are awesome! And he is going to be one gorgeous guy soon! He was probably just digging to escape the defective owner he got!

what a beautifyl big baby he is! and how lucky to have found you to take care of him. My labradoodle, Wakefield, also loves to dig. last year he dug up practicall the entire back yard - and in the fall when we had all that rain here in Virginia - well picture a big white fuzzy dog and lots of mud! Last summer first I got rid of all the moles in the yard that he seemed to be after, then I got rid of the grubs that he starte digging up. Then he seemed to be afte the tree roots. that when, luckily, the cold weather and snow came and I didn't have to worry about it any more. Now that spring's here I'm watching to see if he starts up again. So far he doesn't seem as inclined to dig as he did last year. He's not outside for long periods of time, has toys to play with, and almost always my other dog's out there with him, so I don't think he was digging from boredom. Keep your fingers crossed that maybe he "outgrew it". :)

He is beautiful! How wonderful of you to foster him. I am sure that once he is cared for and given enough chew toys and exercise, he will be a different dog inside and out!

Ahhhh, what a beautiful boy! Just think if each of us that has a doodle that digs gave up our doodle! I would wouldn't have any doodles! I think there were reasons other than he dug. Of course, I think it was probably lucky for him they gave him up. Now he can have a real doodle lovin home! Keep us posted on how it is going

Hello Brogan!! You are a lucky dood indeed, getting fostered by Nina and her crew! Hopefully, the rain will hold off for next Sunday and we'll get to meet him!
