Meet our new foster Brogan, the digging doodle from Dothan.

Yesterday DH and I took a road trip to Columbus, about 2.5 hours southeast from north side of Atlanta (where we live) to meet a wonderful volunteer from the Dothan Animal Shelter and our new foster boy Brogan. Brogan was owner surrendered because the owner said he digs. Poor guy was a big black smelly mass of mats. Fortunately, the shelter HW tested him and wonders of wonders the test came back negative. After 2 hours of riding with the back windows partially down to counteract the stench we stopped at our local Petsmart to see if they could clean him up. Thank heavens they had an open slot. DH asked if at all possible to please not shave Brogan’s lovely black curls. The groomer said she would try but called within an hour to say that Brogan had some mats that were so bad that he had some open sores. So a bath and a shave were in order for Mr. B. Two hours later we got the call that Brogan was ready to be picked up. Just imagine our surprise when the matted black dood we dropped off came back to us a clean sleek Brindle.

He's gorgeous and youi're wonderful for fostering him. I would imagine he "digs" because he's bored and obviously was not taken care of. He has to feel sooo much better w/o the horrid matts.

Dothan is a town in Alabama. DH and I are fans of Prairie Home Companion and all the skits they do with lots of alliteration. Ever since we knew we were fostering Brogan be have been having too much fun coming up with our own alliterations. =)

Brogan from the Land of Dothan,
Since I do not know the name Dothan, I read the title of this blog and thought I was coming into read a fantasy story. Some of the "mostly men" fairytale book and movie titles my husband and son's read.

Wow he is gorgeous with and without hair. Love the Brindle. Funny what you find underneath all the hair. Spud could pass for a dalmatian. Half his skin are large black spots.

Oh, Brogan is wonderful! Congratulations! Just imagine how handsome this Dood will be when those curls come back....this time mat free! It always cracks me up how skinny they look when they're shaved..especially those legs. I can't even imagine that someone surrendered this beautiful boy because he "digs", but I know he's with a great forever family now. We'll be waiting for stories.
