Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Throughout my time here on DK I've been hearing about doodle paws smelling like fritos. Whopper definitely doesn't have Frito smelling paws. I've also never met any doodles (or at least smelled the paws) of ones with Frito paws. So, needless to say, I was really beginning to question whether they do in fact exist. Well...they do! Simba, our new addition, has FRITO paws. I even had my husband smell them to make sure I wasn't nuts. Simba must think we are both nuts as we now sometimes call him Mr. Frito and sniff his paws from time to time to see if the smell lasts. So far it has! So other doubters out there...Frito paws are for real! If you don't have a doodle with these special paws, I guess that means you need to consider adding a second, or third, or fourth...

It does'nt absorb the moisture I dry the paws first then I'll use the spray and when they go out the next few times their feet still smell better than popcorn feet. When the company send me another catalog I'll get the name or you can chesck out Concord Pets.

Is the spray something you use to cover up the odor or is it something that is supposed to keep the paws healthier and absorb some of the moisture? I don't mind the frito smell...

Hi Lindsey,I know exactly what you are talking about! My freind from Virginia thinks the they smell like popcorn! She had a somoya and she would call her popcorn feet!!!! Chesney's paws smell like popcorn. I use a sray on his feet and my golden,it's made by TopiClean I don'nt have any right now but you can buy it at a Concord Pet store. When they send me a new catalog I'll let you know.It really works and smells good and it works.

Ha! This made me laugh out loud. I noticed Penny's Frito feet when she was just a puppy and it's never gone away. Even after she gets a grooming!

Z our GR has very strong smelling frito feet all year round. Our dog-loving friends and my sister would visit us now and then just so to get a good whiff of her feet. Yeah we are all crazy dog people here.
K our GD does not have frito feet, his feet kinda smell like raw lamb/meat... we often say he smells rather gamey.

We brushed the dogs tonight and DH agrees that Ned has a different scent from the doggy smell of the others and it isn't Fritos. I wish he had a baby powder scent - wouldn't that be nice.

Fenways' smell fritoish, but Dustin's smell like chlorine or something. We don't even have pool?!?

I know what you mean. Gracie has her very own smell and she never smells like a dog. I think it is because they don't have fur and are not oily dogs. Gracie's face might get stinky because she always has it in a bucket and it is always wet. We do give it a Pantene rinse every couple of days. And it can also smell like grass when she has been playing on the lawn with her ball. But, she always smells like Gracie and it is very nice.
