Daisy is going to the Ophthalmologist today, her Daddy will be taking her. I am at a loss on how to feel about this. I am always the caregiver, always the one my girls come to when in need. Daddy is the playmate.
DH is feeling a little unsure as well. He always comes along but is not the questioner. He has been drilled on what to ask, not to make the appointment for surgery without conferring with me and lots of notes.
The good thing is DH took the entire day off so the 2nd half of the day will be nothing but fun...it snowed and they are going to the park.
Wish us luck friends!

Looking back at this now, seems like ages ago. Daisy ended up with surgery in her right eye only. Hopefully when she sees her new Opthomoligist in September we get a clean bill of eye health again. The Dr. that did her surgery is now working in Columbus, Oh, too far for us.
So glad Daisy doesn't need the surgery. Hoping the drops maintain her eye health for years to come. You were very brave to let DH take her without you. (Maybe you can call the vet and get a personal "report") ;o)
Do you take coffee with you, Doris?
Just seeing this! Glad to hear that Miss Daisy doesn't need surgery now! BTW, my boys would rather Dad take them to the vet than me. He gets in and out and doesn't waste time asking about their kids, etc. To my defense, after using the same vets for 20 years, they seem like family and I use the appointments to "catch up!"
Good News! Glad it went okay and for now and just drops are needed.
Lisa, I just saw this, and I'm glad I was late 'cause I also see that Daisy doesn't need surgery right now. I know you must be worried anyway, but I'm glad that at least for now it's "wait and see". I hope the eye drops help and she is able to do just fine for a long, long time without surgery. Hugs to you both.
Lisa, I'm happy to hear that Daisy doesn't have to have surgery right now. I know you really wanted to be there, the few times my DH took my son to the Dr. without me always left me with more questions than answers but at least you got a pamphlet.
Laurie, Daisy was a pill, she barked at every technician and was non to cooperative until DH finally lifted her to the table (something I had reminded him about but he forgot).
Joanna, my DH didn't really ask anything which is why I was not happy. Good thing the Vet sent him home with a pamphlet or I would still be in the dark.
Pam, ha ha, that is a hoot!
BG, LOL you are a hoot and you sound like me.
Thanks Lonnie.
Nicky, you are right, he did OK, not good but I think I can live with it.
Good news bad news.
Daisy may not have to have surgery, well at least not for a while. Her cataract is not at the severity where it is causing damage so she is on eye drops 3 days a week once a day in the right eye.
She actually has a very small cataract forming on the left eye as well. Since this is happening they prefer to do the surgery on both eyes if necessary to eliminate her having to have 2 surgeries instead of just one.
We are on a wait and see basis. She will have regular eye checks every 3 months to see where she's at.
The surgery is very expensive....one eye $4000 or if you do one eye at a time by choice. If you do two at once it's an additional 500 -700.
Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Next appointment I am going along, I got very little detail and I really need it for peace of mind.
