First off, I have to apologize if this post isn't very interesting. I hate doing a post without photos... but we lost our memory card when we moved, unfortunately.... so I haven't been able to take any photos.
We moved a couple of weeks ago. Our old apartment wanted to raise our rent, and since it wasn't too great in the first place, we decided to look elsewhere. It is VERY hard to find an apartment that allows a 70+ lb dog, but we found our new place, and it's great. It is bigger, newer, and even has a fenced in dog park. DH and I were excited, but we were also worried. I have heard that dogs have a hard time adjusting to moves, and it can cause behavioral problems. I wasn't sure how Darwin would react, as he had spent his entire life in our old place.
Well, he did have a little bit if trouble initially. He was pretty hyper in the apartment, going crazy sniffing everything. And the weirdest part, he actually started barking at dogs or people passing by our apartment, or people knocking at the door. This is very uncharacteristic for him. He rarely, rarely barks. Never when people come to the door, and certainly not when people pass by. I tried not to be harsh, and just redirected his attention to a command.
Now that we've been here for a couple of weeks, he's back to normal again. No more barking, and his sniffing is back to a minimum. He's really enjoying being here I think. It's cooler in this apartment, and he absolutely loves the dog park. There is agility equipment set up around the area, and I've been doing runs through it with Darwin. He's much better at it than I would have guessed! He's usually such a clumsy dog, but when we are around the agility equipment, he does wonderfully. He can't do any of the high jumps, but he sails over the low ones really easily. It's made me think that maybe we should sign him up for an actual agility class soon. Who would have guessed?
