I've never had a black eye before....I do now.  Last night Murph started feeling better and got the zoomies.  Guinness just wasn't in the mood for that, so he hid under our bed.  Murph was jumping on and off the bed while racing around the upstairs like a lunatic.  I bent down because I wanted to coax Guinness out, and just as I did this Murph hurled himself off the bed and his head hit mine.  I went literally flying across the room, glasses off and bent, and landed in a heap.  That's when my face started swelling up.  I yelled for DH (crying like a baby because it hurt BAD).  Murph was just fine though....didn't hurt his head at all.  So now the eye is swollen and black.  It looks like I've done nine rounds.  I'm mortified to go out....everyone will surely think "domestic dispute".  Murphy, Murphy, Murphy, what am I going to do with you!  He did understand that something was really wrong with his Mom though because he was very "attentive" after the "incident".

Okay, based on popular demand I took a self portrait of my eye.....not an easy thing to do.  Sorry about the quality of the pictures, but I wanted to be sure I only got my black eye (per Adina's suggestion).  I told you....UGLY!

In case that wasn't bad enough, here's another....

@Christine -- doesn't have to be during Zoomies .... mine was when Foster Somer was just laying in my lap all nice and calm and I was petting her and loving on her.  DH came in the back door from work and Somer just got so excited she jump straight up and right into my cheek bone with the top of her head ...... DH gets in the door dogs jumping all over him excited when all of a sudden he noticed the tears just pouring down my face and me in agony ..... it happens in an instant at the least unexpected times (as Jane found out).

The photo can be JUST of your black eye--that would help us believe your story better ;-)

Ouch, I agree that a photo might be appropriate here - lol.  I am sure that Murphy has remorse for causing you pain.  Rooney gave me a fat lip during his bath time once (man does he hate to get wet) but the worst that he has done to me - how do I tell this in a delicate manner.  He loves to try and grab toilet paper out of my hand while I pee.  Bad habit that we are working on because he jumped up to grab it from my hand and came down getting one paw caught in my undies - I'm trying to grab for him and his instantly panics somehow managing to put a little scratch on me in a very sensative place.  I wouldn't tell this story to anyone else but you DKers get it - lmao!!

Oh no.... I never thought of a black eye being the negative consequence of the Zoomies!  I hope you are feeling better and that the swelling and color return to normal soon!   I will be sure to be careful when Shelby gets the zoomies - happens daily... and honestly - I love watching her - it makes me giggle!

Hey Jane come on, I posted my black eye picture that I got from Foster Baby Somer, so you gotta give us a good picture!  I feel for you though and I don't think I have ever had anything hurt so bad as when our heads met.  One thing I'll be interested to hear from you in a few days ........ Take note of when you go out in public if people ask you what happened!  I found that young girls would, but not women my own age or men!  It was really strange!  You are right though it does feel awkward in public when you know people want to ask, but won't.

Thanks everyone.  It's definitely better....now I just have a nasty headache.  Ladies, there will be NO pictures of me with my black eye.  I'm a little too vain for that.  It's very, very ugly.

Darn those HARD heads of dogs!  I'm so sorry.  Do we get a PICTURE???? :-D

Thule once bonked me in the cheek and I was SURE I'd look like a prize fighter, but luckily the pain was worse than the appearance (there was NO visible evidence...darn! of the collision).  I was bending down in the yard and Thule decided to hop up and we collided.
