Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I haven't posted any of Murphy's antics in a while. It's been busy here, and Murph has not been feeling well. He started with giardia a couple of weeks ago, and then he caught an upper respiratory infection, his allergies are horrible, his tummy is a mess (even home cooking isn't working), his anal glands are just dysfunctional.....need I say more. My poor guy is a "junkie".....he gets up in the morning and runs downstairs to the kitchen counter where the pill pockets are kept, sits and waits for his morning meds. He's on antibiotics, probiotics, Claritin, and Pepcid.....thank heavens he loves those pill pockets. We pretty much have a standing weekly vet appointment....lately he can't go more than 7 to 10 days without having his anal glands expressed or he leaks. For now we're finished with the giardia meds, although when they recheck his stool at the end of the week, we may have to start round two (if it hasn't cleared). The thing I love so much about Murphy is that he never "gets down". No matter how yucky he feels, he's still a goofball. So here's our latest example of our silly Dood....
Tonight I was cooking a batch of dog food and the boys were playing in the living room. It sounded pretty calm, so I was thinking they were playing like "good boys". Then it seemed to get really quiet, so I thought it might be time to investigate....that usually means Guinness is trying to "hump" Murph. When I went in to check here's what I saw...Murph was taking his little brother for a walk. Yup he had Guinness's collar in his teeth, and he was walking right along. Guinness was following, his little legs moving at lightening speed. Now today was very hot here, and DH and I decided against our daily walk with the dogs. Apparently Murph decided this just wouldn't do. If we wouldn't walk them, he'd take the situation into his own paws. Before anyone decides to report us to the ASPCA, we do realize that this is not a good situation. Clearly it's dangerous, and I'll now have to be sure Guinness's collar is off if I'm not watching them. But that said, it had to be one of the funniest sights I've ever seen. Yes, that's our Murph. I wanted to run for the video camera, but I realized I needed to "save Guinness". I've never, ever had a dog quite like Murphy. You just never know what he's going to decide to do next....and he's just funny. Somehow little Guinness manages to survive, and even seems to "look up" to his brother....literally and figuratively.

First of all, I am so sorry you are having so much trouble w/ Murphy. How could this possibly happen to you, when you already had soo much trouble w/ Guinness' stomach and giardia. Poor Jane. And you are so loyal and wonderful to your beloved doods.
Second, that is hilarious about Murph dragging Guinness around. Poor guy. G just went THRU getting dragged around at the beach by grandchildren, but this is too much!!! He is so laid back and tolerant. Hasn't he heard that nice guys finish last?????? Just kidding.
That's so cute. Sophie Bear has a chocolate lab friend in the neighbourhood named Fletcher, and he does that to her all the time.
Also, sometimes she takes her leash in her mouth and prances down the hallway, head/tail held high and chest puffed out, walking herself - that's when I call her "Queen Sophie, Supreme Ruler of the 2nd Floor Hallway". Doodles are so funny, sometimes they seem like kids instead of dogs.
Jane, your two sound like they are beyond adorable! I can just visualize the look on your face when you saw Murph taking Guinness for his walk! Maybe we should keep our cameras on the kitchen counter so they are ready at all times! I'd love to have seen your pics of that!
Hope Murphy is soon on the mend. He's too sweet to be under the weather!
