I'm feeling like a "blog hog", so please forgive me. Today was a traumatic day for Murph (and me too). I could no longer handle the mats from the "coat change", and he could no longer handle me trying to remove them. We were both on our last nerve, and there was no way I could keep up with them. So his gorgeous coat is now in the trash at Petco. I knew this would be difficult for him, so I made poor Guinness go with him....poor guy didn't even need a grooming. The groomer was really sweet, and took it slow giving him lots of breaks when he got really upset. It took four hours, and he and Guinness were her only customers. When I brought him home, DH and I couldn't stop laughing...every time we looked at him we got hysterical. I think he knew it, and he wasn't happy with us. He looks like a "gangly teenage boy"...all he needs to complete the look is a little acne and a Taylor Swift crush. Apparently Guinness thought he was looking pretty handsome, because from the time they got home he has not stopped "humping" Murph. He's figured out that if he "lures" Murph upstairs with the tennis ball, they will get to have their "humping fest" without me putting a stop to it. I'm onto them now though. Here are some of the sad pictures of poor Murph....although I will always think he's a VERY HANDSOME DOOD.

Murphy looks great! Your groomer did a wonderful job, especially with a nervous doodle. I loved Halas' long coat, but it did become too matted too quickly. Even with his coat shorter, I could still spend an hour a day brushing him. It would take even more time with the longer coat. The shorter coat seems to be softer, too, so I love that.

I know Jacquie exactly what you are talking about on all point! - LOL. Tori has had 3 too many bad hair cuts... finally I have found a groomer that keeps her doodle look. Tori's hair is softer and fly-away, so it's a bit easier to keep.. but shaving around the butt area is a big NO NO in my book.... even tho' she may not have clipper burn, she still gets irritated when she pees and poops if it's too short. My groomer says she used a 'ceramic' blade at a higher number - she's not shaved at all, just short enough to keep it free of any "cling-ons" - LOL But it took us too many tears before finding someone who is perfect!

Jane I think they did a beautiful job!...He looks great!....

I have to tell you that I have personally given up on the long coat thing with my doodles.....Especially with Blake who is more "Poodley".....It's just IMPOSSIBLE to manage the wool/fleece coats when they are long without daily maintenance and even then the hair becomes so damaged from constant brushing....Who has that kind of time?......Plus Blake would come home from the groomer looking like a Pomeranian or Bichon with a big poof poodle head and cocker spaniel ears!...YUCK! It infuriates me when groomers do this to a doodle!.......

I finally figured out that Blake looks more "doodley" MINUS all that fuzz around his face and clipped shorter so you can actually see his nice square Labby snout, his Labby head, his long legs and bone structure......I cut them myself when I can and do it with scissors so everything is blended.....I think now you can see Murph's beautiful face and his body shape...I think he looks great!

FTR- I also HATE when groomers shave doodle tails at the base around the butt area...You know what I'm talking about right?....They cut it like a Portuguese Water Dog!...DRIVES ME CRAZY!...ugh....and the typical "Sanitary Cut" when they shave all of the hair on the inside of the legs and on the belly area?....WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???...Besides it irritating the poor dog with clipper burn and the itch from regrowth it's just NOT DONE TO DOODLES......

Sorry...I went off on a grooming rant there ...lol....Don't sweat the cut...Murph looks gorgeous......

They both look wonderful. Murphy don't you let mom get away with saying you look like a gangly teenager - you look magnificent.

Awww... I think he looks terrific! Soft and cuddly. We use groomers at Petco here in AZ and they're wonderful. What funny "humping" story - have a great weekend!
