Muscle Weighs More Than Fat!

I took Gavin to the vet’s to get his heartworm/lymes test and Revolution meds.  First step of course was to have him weighed.  I thought there must be some kind of mistake and had him re-weighed.  The number on the scale:  73.8 lbs!  That is a full 7 lbs more than he weighed at his last check up in October!  I was in a state of disbelief.  The kind receptionist tried to sooth me by saying “maybe he is just carrying a little extra winter weight.”  How could I tell her, that last week I was on DK bragging about Gavin’s athletic physique?  “Well he is not fat, that’s for sure!” she said.  The vet echoed her sentiments saying that Gavin is very tall and he is in excellent shape.  I remained a bit stunned – he had gained over a pound a month!  In a last ditch effort to appease me the receptionist said “well you know, muscle weighs more than fat!”  Yes, true, I have been telling myself that for years!

 

The good news is his tests came back negative.

Jarka he is 29 inches tall at the shoulder. 

Roberta the only iron around for him to lift is his metal food dishes, but I should keep an eye. 

Maybe if I ran with him as Jennifer suggests, I would have a better waist Jane!

Gavin looks perfect. I must be very muscular, who knew? I'm terrified since we go the vet Friday. Calla has been stealing more than usual but she did have a haircut. We'll see.

Fudgie Girl,  Texas is a looooooooong way from Oregon!  Wink, wink. And besides, I don't see any ring on Gavin's paw!!!
