Muscle Weighs More Than Fat!

I took Gavin to the vet’s to get his heartworm/lymes test and Revolution meds.  First step of course was to have him weighed.  I thought there must be some kind of mistake and had him re-weighed.  The number on the scale:  73.8 lbs!  That is a full 7 lbs more than he weighed at his last check up in October!  I was in a state of disbelief.  The kind receptionist tried to sooth me by saying “maybe he is just carrying a little extra winter weight.”  How could I tell her, that last week I was on DK bragging about Gavin’s athletic physique?  “Well he is not fat, that’s for sure!” she said.  The vet echoed her sentiments saying that Gavin is very tall and he is in excellent shape.  I remained a bit stunned – he had gained over a pound a month!  In a last ditch effort to appease me the receptionist said “well you know, muscle weighs more than fat!”  Yes, true, I have been telling myself that for years!

 

The good news is his tests came back negative.

I showed my DH this picture and he said right away that Gavin looks just like Vern. I think Gavin looks super...just right in my opinion. In fact, Vern is now 91 pounds and so he is the before picture and Gavin is the after...LOL!!

Gavin looks great. I get this shocked every time we go to the vet. Last November, Monty was 79 lbs. When he stepped on the scales two weeks ago, he was 82.6!  My little fatso (not)!  He does not even eat 3 cups a day (Acana). Gavin looks perfect in my eyes. How tall is he?

I don't care what the scale says....Gavin has a perfect "bod".  He has a well defined waistline (I wish I did), and my Vet says that's good indication that their weight is fine.  Glad all the test results were good.
