My Do It Yourself Dog Gators! Patent Pending!

We have had a lot of snow lately and Fudge and Vern want to be out as much as possible. I am the least crafty person you will ever meet and I think my homemade gators prove this once again. Last night, the dogs came in with snow everywhere and we spent a long time getting all the snow off of them. So, today after the plows came through, I went to Target in the hopes to find some stretchy PJ's to make into snowsuits for the dogs. I found this idea on DK from some truly crafty members. When I went to Target, the only PJ's they had were in a small size and Vern is no small. I decided to take some clearance knee highs and cut the toe off and try them out as gators. Here are the results:

Ok, It starts off well. Fudge looks thrilled, but she left them on to go outside. We have changed her name to Pippi :)

Vern is equally thrilled to be wearing Argyle socks:

Next, we go outside and they start to play....they wanted to give them the true test. Here are the gators after they came in from playing outside:

and here is what was inside when I took them off of Vern:

Back to the drawing board for this DK member!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of Fudge! She is so cute, and really looks like she's smiling in the photo!  If you ever perfect your gators, i'll be first in line. It takes me 20-30 minutes to get Vanny dried each night after their romp in the snow. I've always prefered Van's soft fleece coat to Raleigh's wirey coarse coat, but at least his doesn't collect snow balls like hers does! It's off to the groomer next week for Vannah! hope you are well...it's been awhile!

I think he looks like Kelsey too. My friend (that came with me to pick Vern up) always talks about how big Kelsey was and I guess I was so enamored of Vern I did not notice as much. Vern is now 80 pounds.

It cracks me up how big their paws look sticking out of the bottom of the socks!

My first thought (even before reading your post) when I saw Fudge's pic was Pippi Longstockings.  So cute.

How about trying a long sleeve T-shirt and cutting the front off. Put one leg in sleeve and the back of shirt on the back of your dog, other leg in sleeve. That way they wont fall down. I love your photos, my favorite is "Pippi"

Whenever I want a giggle, I just come here and look at that photo of Fudge.
