Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
It seems like I have been posting a lot of blogs about Vern and not so many about Fudge (and I apologize to Fudge), but here goes another one. Last night, my DH commented that Vern is like a big, goofy boy and I think he hit the nail on the head. I came home from grocery shopping and Vern kept trying to inspect the groceries, so I asked my DH to entertain (yes, these are the words I used) him while I put the groceries away. Outside they all went and pretty soon, I could hear Vern barking frantically. When they all came back inside, Vern would not start barking. He ran from each window to door and we could not get him to stop. I tried all my best training techniques, which went something like this, "VERN, STOP BARKING, I CAN'T HEAR THE BIG BANG THEORY." Vern did not care about my TV show.
Apparently, my DH said when they were outside they could hear an animal (probably that stupid groundhog) in the tree eating something or making a weird noise and this spooked Vern. An hour later, he was still worked up, so we all decided to go back to bed. Fudge kept looking at him like "What an idiot." When he got in bed with us, he ran right up to me nose to nose and then plopped down on top of my chest and laid his head under the crook of my chin. He put his paw on my shoulder and I could feel his heart pounding. He stayed like that for almost all of Grey's Anatomy and The Mentalist (we have an exciting life, don't we?), and finally fell asleep. It wasn't until my DH and I fell sound asleep that Vern decided he was brave enough to try and go outside one more time. He went as far as the deck stairs, turned around and came back inside. My brave Vern!!

HI Laurie,
Loved reading about "Vern" ..sounds like he was trying to alert all of you as to the daners Groundhogs can pose for the entire family...happy to see he finally settled down for you ..
Lol! Poor baby!
Ollie will bury his head under my arm and whimper when he gets scared. His biggest fear is the big, bad, hair dryer that could some day eat him up!!
There was the statue in downtownAustin that Murphy was terrified of ....I don't even know how it caught his attention. In front of the newspaper building there was a bronze statue of a boy throwing a paper. Murphy started his low growl and by the time we got next to it he was bucking and pulling and I was afraid we would end up in the street run over by a bus.....
