Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My six year old Goldendoodle has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma. We are going to administer a series of Chemotherapy injections which hopefully will extend hwe life. Like most of you with a Doodle thay become a huge part of your life and this news is very upsetting. I am wondering if anybody has had a Doodle with this disease and how he/she has responded to this form of treatment.

Thank you for any insight that you might have.

Several years ago, my daughter's dog - a Heinz 57 mix from the pound - was diagnosed with lymphoma.  Even though their finances were very limited and they didn't have pet insurance, my daughter and her husband opted for Chemo - a combination of IV and oral medication.  Throughout the treatment, the doctors were able to tweak the meds to get the best outcome with the fewest side effects.  Dixie lived another two GOOD years.  Hoping for a good outcome for you and your doodle.

Bill, I don't have any experience with this, but my heart and prayers go out to you and your pup. I did have a friend who did Chemo with her dog for a different type of cancer and it was a great success. Hoping that the treatments are effective and easily tolerated. Please do keep us updated.

Bill, there are a few of us here that have been through this.  The link shown below is the newest case.  They, like you are just getting started on this journey.  Our Sophie was diagnosed on October 29th of last year and began Chemo the same day.  Unfortunately our story was not one of the good ones.  We lost our Sophie on March 11th of this year.  We promised her in the beginning that we would fight the fight as long as there were more good days than day.  We were going for Quality of Life vs. Quantity.  Her initial 6 weeks or so were great but then the cancer was stronger than the drugs and she just couldn't beat it.  The thing about Lymphoma is it is different in every dog.  Every dog reacts to the drugs differently.  My wish for you is that you are one of the lucky ones.  There are those who get several more years.  I'm happy to provide whatever info I can as you go through the journey so please don't hesitate to ask.  Hugs to you both.

I am very sorry to hear this. Someone else's doodle is going through this right now but I cannot remember just now. I hope the treatment goes well.

So sorry to hear this, but I hope the Chemotherapy helps and your dog goes into a very long remission. I wish your Doodle and you all the best.
