Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, Peri and Taquito have been experiencing quite a few changes over the past few months.  Taquito can no longer comfortably lie on my belly as my bump is getting quite large!  I am over 6 months pregnant now and have less than 3 months to go until we meet our little girl.

We have been working on the nursery.  Peri and Taquito enjoy hanging out in there.  This morning, I found Peri lying on the rug with her toy, just hanging out.  I am glad they feel comfortable in there.  Here are some pics...it's a work in progress, but I am so pleased with it so far.  The bedding is being made and should be here next month.

We also found this little goldendoodle look-alike at the toy store and I just had to buy it for Charlotte.  How cute is this???

And finally, we just traded in DH's car. He had a '99 GS Lexus that he received from his parents for high school graduation (yes, he was a spoiled rotten youngest son). He has driven it for over 13 years!  It was a sad day, but the ABS was out and it was time. He took my sedan and I got a total mom mobile.  A Volvo Station wagon. Yep, I am a mom now.  Heck, I had to have either an SUV or something for the baby + choodle!  I am only 5' tall, so this appeals because it does not require a step ladder for me to get into it (or lift the carseat in!).  We are getting a luggage rack added to the top for road trips to see the inlaws.  Gear + luggage + dogs = need for luggage rack!

Here's a sample of what the car looks like.  We got a great deal; it's off a 3-year lease and is in perfect condition.  I love it - it's sportier than it looks.

So all in all, dogs have been dealing with a completely new room in the house and now a new car.  Peri came down to the basement to check it out last night and jumped right in and gave it the big sniff over.  She looked so confused why my old car was in daddy's spot!

I will post again when nursery is complete and my nesting is in a full-on rage!

What a beautiful nursery!  I remember I used to sit in my older son Shane's nursery for hours and stare at the crib and picture him in it.  I used to daydream about that a lot!  The nursery looks very peaceful.  I love the window and the colors!

The room is so beautiful!  And congrats on the new car!  We are already thinking we need something bigger...maybe the Honda Pilot with the 3rd row of seating can fit us, the baby, and the 2 dogs.  =)

Deanna, you reminded me that my DH gave up his motorcycle for our firstborn.  I had forgotten that since he had bikes before and since..... my dh will have to remind that daughter what he gave up for her... :-}

I'm smiling from ear to ear thinking about the fun you're having with all your baby preparations.  It is such an exciting time!  You're doing a beautiful job on the nursery!  Charlotte is one lucky little girl!!

It seems like just yesterday that I got my first "mom car".  When I first met my husband, he had a Porsche 914 that he'd gotten while stationed in Germany.  That's what we traded in for our station wagon.  While our daughter was growing up, he found lots of opportunities to "lovingly" remind her that he'd given up his Porsche for her!!

Enjoy your nesting.  And get plenty of sleep now, as it may be the last good sleep you'll have for some time!!

Thanks everyone....we are excited of course.  And your comments express exactly what I wanted the nursery to be:  relaxing. When things get hectic, as I know they will, it will be nice to have a soothing room to go into.  Nancie, thanks for your comments and advice!!!!!!!!

We had a Volvo station wagon when our youngest child was a baby/toddler - we loved it.  We still drive a Volvo.  The baby's room looks wonderful - so soft and romantic.  I adore that floor to ceiling window.  when she becomes a toddler you may need to put something protective on it, but she is going to love, love, love looking out that window.

Boy, the nursery is gorgeous.  There are so many things to think of when getting ready.  My little grand daughter is now 3 months old and outgrowing her clothing like crazy.  I was flying back and forth to San Jose, CA (1 hr) to help get ready.  I do the painting and organizing in the family.  Then the fun began when we went out and bought the car seat, stroller frame that the seat clips into and TWO bases...one for each car.  We were there when the baby was born and as ready as we all were, I was constantly running to Bye Bye Baby (Division of Bed, Bath & Beyond) to pick things up.  Make sure you have the little gowns and shirts with the mitts that you can flip down over the hands.  Those little finger nails are dangerous!!!  You are going to have so much fun.  My daughter is loving every moment of it.  And...they just came on the news saying that newborns brought into a house with dogs and cats will have better immunities than a baby in a house with no pets.  My daughter has a Rhodesian Ridgeback and they let her give the baby two kisses every time they walk in the room and she curls up on the bed or sofa while Megan is nursing the baby.  Luna is so good with the baby.  She is always by her side guarding her and keeping her safe.  My daughter makes sure to include Luna in all the baby activities.  Lady Peri and Tacky will love having a baby in the house.  Don't be afraid to introduce the baby to them and let them sniff and maybe give a gentle lick or two.  Actually, my SIL brought home the hospital blanket that Eowyn was wrapped in when born.  He introduced it to Luna by letting her sniff it, then he would pull it away from her nose and hold it and say mine, then let her sniff again, and repeated it a few times until she no longer wanted the blanket.  They wanted her start to learn the scent and know that it belongs to them and not her (as in toy to play with???).  Maybe we should start a "baby group".  Good Luck!
