NOTHING to do with Doodles.. Just need to vent

So where else does one turn to vent than to those ever so caring doodle friends who are always there with open arms and hearts.... many of you know I am so anxiously awaiting a dream vacation to Hawaii. (one that we have been trying to go on for 18 years).   Just as I was feeling so bad that we are leaving Tori (in good hands) for 10 days, my older son decides to take my mind off those worries by coming down with a FEVER!  YUP... 2 days before we have to fly 13 hours.... my 18 year old gets sick!  Ran to the doctor.  They did a rapid strep, negative....checked ears,  nose - clear... and chest sounds clear (since he began a cough 2 days prior) - only to hear that "V" word that most moms hate hearing..... "virus".    So home we go with a prescription (incase a secondary infection brews) to fill if needed... My poor son has spent yesterday and all day today in bed with fever fluctuating between 100.8 and 102.9 .  I'm praying his fever breaks by tomorrow, and that NO ONE else comes down with it.... I would HATE for him to fly feeling so awful!  Feeling so guilty as well for being upset about him being sick...  THANKS for letting me vent.  (was going to post on 'facebook' but didn't want to risk him seeing it.  He already is really feeling bad)...THANK YOU!

Aww... I hope he feels better soon. Usually that happens when they are little! On the bright side, he will probably be feeling better in a day or two, so at least he came down with it now, instead of when you first get there. I hope you have a GREAT time. You will be starting the school year off with a nice Hawaiian glow!

YOU GUYS ROCK!   I do feel better... just a bit of self-pity here for a while.  Thanks so much for all the good wishes!  He still has a fever, but hopefully after the second dose of antibiotics, I'm hoping it will help!

Awww Shelly, I'm sorry to hear about your son....it always seems to be the way doesn't it?!   I just know he'll turn a corner today and be feeling better for your trip....I'll bet by the time you land he'll be ready to roll!!!!    Have a wonderful time Shelly!!!!   I'll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts to your darling son!

Thanks Deanna! We're going to Oahu for 3 nights and Maui for 6... we plan on also taking a day trip over to Hawaii. We went for our honeymoon 28 years ago.  We wanted to go for our 10 year anniversary - had my oldest, then for our 15th, we had our second son, then life just got in the way... so FINALLY we're going back!  Just keeping my fingers crossed now!

Laurie/Mimi...I caved... I DID give him the medication any way last night... ugh! I still can't believe this!  NO one we even know was sick, and he really hasn't been anywhere this week....TRACI - Yes, I too am a germ freak and my hands are raw from washing them so much. Just praying, praying, praying now.

JANE - you are so right it is a long flight, but SO worth it.  The flight coming home - NOT so worth it, except Tori will be so happy when we come home!

I think I have more medications/ tylenol, etc packed in my carrying than anything!
