NOTHING to do with Doodles.. Just need to vent

So where else does one turn to vent than to those ever so caring doodle friends who are always there with open arms and hearts.... many of you know I am so anxiously awaiting a dream vacation to Hawaii. (one that we have been trying to go on for 18 years).   Just as I was feeling so bad that we are leaving Tori (in good hands) for 10 days, my older son decides to take my mind off those worries by coming down with a FEVER!  YUP... 2 days before we have to fly 13 hours.... my 18 year old gets sick!  Ran to the doctor.  They did a rapid strep, negative....checked ears,  nose - clear... and chest sounds clear (since he began a cough 2 days prior) - only to hear that "V" word that most moms hate hearing..... "virus".    So home we go with a prescription (incase a secondary infection brews) to fill if needed... My poor son has spent yesterday and all day today in bed with fever fluctuating between 100.8 and 102.9 .  I'm praying his fever breaks by tomorrow, and that NO ONE else comes down with it.... I would HATE for him to fly feeling so awful!  Feeling so guilty as well for being upset about him being sick...  THANKS for letting me vent.  (was going to post on 'facebook' but didn't want to risk him seeing it.  He already is really feeling bad)...THANK YOU!

Sorry to hear this Shelly-I know how excited you were to get there! Keep in bed with the meds and maybe tomorrow will be at least a little better. You will get your dream vacation! Good luck.

hope he is feeling better. you are right this stuff always happens before a vacation. I agree with Laurie/ start the drugs.. keep us posted.

Isn't this always the way things happen? You have one more day for that fever to break and I bet it will. If it were me, I would fill the prescription and start giving him the medicine. It certainly can't hurt. Good luck and I know it will all work out.

Hawaii is my favorite place in the world!!!!  Let me tell you something - it is a long flight - really long.  The great news is once you step off that plane - sick or not - you'll soon forget all about it!  It is so beautiful there, peaceful & calm, gentle breeze blowing.  Ahhhh I can feel it now. 

Pack things for that flight that you might need for a sick person.  Hand sanitizer, cough drops, kleenex.  Go, have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, I feel your pain!  That stinks sooo bad.  I'm so sorry to hear about that.  Horrible timing.  I would be hand sanitizing everything - doorknobs, etc.  You could even have him wear a mask.  I'm sure he does feel terrible about it too.  UGH.  Try to be positive & have a good trip...he'll get better just in time for you to arrive (hopefully) and no one else will get it.  Show us pictures when you get back!
