So tomorrow is a big day. My parents, Spike and I are off to puppy school. It's strange. I'm just as nervous and excited as I was when I was going to school.
I just packed his bag with the items from his school list. Non squeaky toys, soft treats, proof of vaccination forms, camera (of course!) and his leash.
I'm a dork. I've accepted that fact. Haha
I'm very excited to really get the training process stated. We've come so far already in the three and a half weeks we've had Spike. It's hard to believe its only been that long. Maybe someday soon my little jaws will be a potty trained well behaved little guy!
By the way does anyone know of soft treats that don't STINK? I just gaged when I opened the ones I bought for class. Wow. They are RANCID smelling! Yuck! And to think I even bought grain free all natural treats. Might have to play dumb tomorrow and "forget" the treats at home.

haha!! That was me this morning! I had some stinky treats left in my pocket. I couldn't figure out why the stink was following me around!
Spike is such a precious pup! So glad to hear puppy class went well. We haven't been to puppy class yet, but your excitement in contagious, and we can't wait for our turn. Those treats get to me too. We have some that don't smell as badly, but the pups love the stinky ones best. I had some in a jacket pocket that I wore out to eat and kept wondering what was that stinky smell.... turns out, it was me!
Glad it went well with your first puppy lesson. Isn't it fun!!
It went well! Going to update in another entry. Turns out the treats that stunk so bad they could knock over a horse (in my opinion) were like puppy crack. Spike LOVED them!
Puppy swimming lessons? That's brilliant! Spike will be getting those.. as soon as spring comes and our pool is opened again :)
How did it go?
I used Natural Balance lamb log for training. It is actually dog food and I cut it up in slices, and then really small pieces. Also used Wellness wellbits, but both of the doodles preferred the Natural balance log. Have fun with that cute boy. He looks like a smartie!
Good luck! Can't wait for the first report!
Rancid smelling? best make sure they are not!
We use Zuke's because they are small. The company was recenlty sold to Nestle, but I think they are still okay for awhile.
We also used small pieces of cheese as treats with training - the treats were supposed to be "high value" and they were a must for the classes we took, so I would be sure to bring something.
Have fun!
Have a great day and I'm sure Spike will be the teacher's pet!
