Out in Left Field

Today DH, Quincy and I went for our sunday walk and game of fetch. We remembered to bring the ball but not the launcher. I throw like a girl and my DH can't throw far enough to make it enough of a challenge for Quincy. We found a broken branch that would work as a bat and started our own baseball team. My husband was the pitcher, I was at bat and Quincy played the outfield. Apparently I not only throw like a girl, I bat like a girl too and soon lost my turn at bat. I am a better pitcher than batter and soon Quincy was doing a great job of playing the outfield. He got to the point where he could almost guess where the ball was going. This turned out to be much more fun than just throwing the ball and we had a great time. Our next toy is going to be a real baseball bat and I'll try and get some practice in. We played in a large field so we didn't have to worry about any windows. I'd just blame it on the dog anyway, he is just so cute nobody could ever get mad at him. Now if we only had 6 more doodles we would have a whole team. On second thought teaching them to hold a bat might be more of a challenge than I'm up for.

My grand daughter and I play ball with Lilly too, I pitch and she bats and Lilly goes and gets the ball for us. Now , if she would just bring it back to us every time ;-)

They have these large plastic balls and bats at Toys r Us, or anyplace that sells kids stuff, and the bat is lighter weight, just a thought...This sounds like so much fun, I am surprized that you didn't draw a crowd with such a cute outfielder, lol....

Baseball is my favorite game and playing it with doods sounds like fun. I may have to take a bat and ball with me to the dog park.
