Maddie loves to sit at the end of our patio (esp in the evenings) to watch over her domain in hopes some kind of animal dares to enter.  Her patience paid off AGAIN.  She came to the back door with another opossum in her mouth.  Standing there so proud of herself she looks so cute..... but YUCK.  I told her to drop it and come in the house, which she did.  It was hard to tell right away if was dead or alive.  This time I ran upstairs for a flashlight and camera.  I put her in a room and closed the door so I could open the screen door to take a picture.  By the time I was ready to take the picture the little guy had his eyes open. I snapped these (without being brave enough to go outside) before he finally ran off.  Good thing Maddie is gentle and is such a sweetie but I wish she would stick to bringing me her toys.

OMD - Someone should tell your Maddie that opposum's have 50 gleaming teeth and they can get quite mean when cornered.  It looks like a young one and I'm so glad she dropped it outside for you. Good girl Maddie.

Maddie was trying to share her treasure with Mom.  At least she didn't kill this creature and deliver the dead body to you.

I feel for you.  There is the retriever in Maddie.  My labs would bring me "stuff" all the time.  Maddie, don't get bit sweetie.  And now that she has caught a prize a couple of times, you are really in for it. haha

My sisters Doodle got involved with a skunk a while ago and he was covered in skunk scent which he then trailed all over her house.  They had to move out and call some specialist cleaning company in to get rid of the smell.

Great you got the evidence this time : )  These look like rat like things, are they marsupial or vermin?

This is not the worst case scenario, it could have been a skunk : )
