Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello, its us: PB&J southwest doodle division reporting in.
As our mom already posted, we are getting a brand new backyard. We are pretty stressed out right now. There are a lot of scary guys ripping things up, moving things, building things. We feel the need to protect our castle so we are barking our heads off inside. A lot. Mom wants ear plugs. We are just trying to alert her to the crazy workers in our backyard. She is ignoring us! And she's blocked off a small part of our yard, its terrible! Here we are in our confined itsy bitsy area. Mom says we are getting retrained to do our business in a specific location. But we know better. We've been sent to JAIL! Sure we still have full access to our 2 story home with delightful air conditioning and frozen kongs, but we'd rather be outside in the 98 degree heat running off all of those guys with tools. We like our backyard the way it was. We have no idea why these humans are so eager to change things.
Mom doesn't agree with us. She says we need a new backyard so we can ALL enjoy it. We think it was fine the way it was. Just check it out. Really, is it that bad??? What's not to love: dead grass to roll in, lots of dirt and dead branches to chew! Sure it smells like pee. Sure we are like 3 dust devils when we come in the house. Sure mom has to dust every day because of it. She blames us a bit, for the digging, and the dead grass spots that have now turned to dirt. Who would have thought us, three teeny tiny doodle boys could do THIS to our upper lawn in 1 years time? We are innocent! I know what you are thinking: we're being framed right? We agree.
But Mom and Dad are moving forward. We are getting an area that will cover part of our new lawn. Here are two of the posts being set for our doggie shade section. We aren't sure we will be able to survive the next 13 days but we will have to.
We will continue to protect our house from workmen...and tools. Brisby like to survey the work at the end of the day. He's checking out the other two supports for our shade structure here:
Until next post, Happy Doodle Days.
Love,
The PB&J Gang

The "Dust Bowl" title just caught my attention. First off - how did you get someone to work on your yard?!?!
We just purchased a house a couple months ago and our backyard is a dust bowl. After 5 requests for quotes on sprinklers and sod, 4 landscapers showed up 3 quotes came in all said it could be done 4 weeks out (2 day job). I hired a landscaper. 4 weeks later I had to call him and he had an excuse, same the following week, then he stopped answering my calls & emails. Round 2 - two more requests, and now everyone is busy for the next 6-8 weeks. One showed up but wants to dump on more topsoil so he doesn't have to dig to put in sprinklers (+$$). Now I hired someone from the first batch who I could tell was suppressing a laugh on the other end of the phone because he would have actually showed up and done the work the first time. Meanwhile I have to deal with all the fine sand and dust creeping into my house and onto my dark hardwood floors.
Sorry to rant but now you know that someone is envious of all your noise & commotion!
PB&J, you guys are so adorable and I'm sure you'll love your new yard when it's finished! Eloise is just like you guys - always loudly alerting mom to possible stranger danger. What would we do without our guard-doodles?! (Um, probably be more sane LOL)
PB&J you are just cutest ever and of course you will protect your house and parents. Isn't that what you Doodles do best! Just ask Libby, right now she is the Queen of barking! Ugh! How nice it will be when you have your new yard to run and play in! Hang in there, it won't be long!
Good job, PB&J! But I think you will be surprised at how much you like the new yard!
Hang in there, PB&J! You'll got those workmen scared away and have a whole new yard.
How about an actual elimination area for the dogs? My friend who has a small house, large yard set up for agility, and three border collies, has a special area with pea gravel on the side of her house. That is the only place they eliminate, and before they go through an agility routine, they go to this area (or whenever they come out of the house). She has a sprayer and small pool for them. Once they start using that area, they know the yard is off limits. Just a thought.
Thanks for keeping us informed. Looks like a great renovation. Glad to see you are putting in something that will not require a lot of water. I'm sure the doodles are quite concerned and confused right now.
Stranger Danger! It will be worth it, just have to get through all the commotion.
Love your post. I am glad to hear you are alerting your family to the dangers of strangers in the yard. I'm sure they will stop allowing this commotion soon. Hang in there... two weeks seems like an eternity, I'm sure.
