So, this has been happening periodically, but now it is a daily occurance.

Peri sleeps on her bed at the foot of our bed on the floor.  She loves her bed and curls up on it as soon as we turn out the lights for bedtime (or if we start reading in bed).  About 6 months ago, she would start waking up before our alarm went off - when the sun came up really.  She would then pace around and jump up on the bed, which was fine with us so we could sleep in a little longer.

For the past month, she will not come up without us saying "come on up!" and us patting the bed.  She will not at all.  The new morning routine is her pawing at me (imagine her hind legs on the floor and front paws on me!) and giving a little friendly grrr.  I then say "come on up" and pat the bed and she jumps up and sleeps until we wake up.

So what the dood?  Why won't she just come on up?  We did make a point to train her to go "OFF" when we got in the bed, so maybe she is trying to be a good doodle and ask politely first?  Really, what gives?

Just another odd doodle trait.  Peri got her Canine Good Citizen award and now she feels she must ask permission for certain things. What a good girl :)  (I am kind of joking here....stop pawing me!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Ahhhh...Peri is such a good girl!  Trav has been on the bed since he was old enough to jump up by himself, and, well, I encouraged him.  :)  He gets up and down now whenever he wants, and I do end up with just a tiny bit of bedspace sometimes--which is pretty silly considering it's a king-sized bed!

Lady Peri IS a lady!  At least she can get up on the bed by herself.  If I am still in bed after DH gets up and lets Rua out, she comes to my side of the bed and stands up...but she can't reach the top of the mattress.  So, then she sits down and starts making little "I want up" sounds.  So, I have to GET OUT OF BED to put her in bed.

What a polite girl she is ;-)
Our doodle isn't even allowed in our bedroom at this point...but I could def. see her pawing at us, she paws at us when we're sitting on the couch...and then tilts her head to the side like "come on, just let me up there with you guys"...it's cute...but can be annoying!

Allie has only jumped onto the bed once so I know she can do it, but she always paws me. And it hurts! Her toe nails do not feel good. If I don't let her on the bed right away, she will walk around to the other side looking for another way up but she will not jump up. I don't get it either. Her sister came to stay with us and Bella jumps on the bed very easily and often.

Lola started doing that when she started sleeping on the bed at a pretty young age..  I never taught her to do this  She goes into my bed usually before me but in the middle of the night if she has gone off - she won't go back up unless I say it's ok...usually when I go to the bathroom  or just just wake up - she will set by the bed and whine a little until I say come.up.

Initially when she started doing this, I thought it meant she needed to go out so I would get dressed and bring her outside - luckily I figured it out pretty quickly and we now sleep peacefully.

Frannie, when my husband is out of town, Peri sleeps with me...it's like she knows there is room and she can be rude! Peri will be with me next week while DH is fly fishing in the mountains!  It will be a dog love fest in my bed!  ANd I am excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Callie could DEFINITELY takes some lessons in good manners from Lady P! Our bedtime generally starts with Callie in her bed while I do the nighttime routine (brushing teeth, etc), and then I invite her up into bed with me. Sometimes she refuses and I frankly find that offensive. Regardless, she is generally in bed with me, all snuggled up in the morning.

My dogs must be rude also.

I guess mine are not polite. Both dogs jump on and off the bed whenever they like but Calla usually only stays toward morning.
