Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I posted a blog a few months ago about my mother not liking Peri. She was getting into her flowers and just being a normal doodle puppy, but mom upset me by saying she "shouldn't be like this now that she is almost a year old". We spend each Sunday at my parents' house for "family day". 4 dogs get to enjoy time together playing around, us humans do fun family stuff like games, movies, etc....
Since the comment my mom made, I have stressed to my parents the importance of not just letting her out in the yard unattended (she likes my mothers gardens, plants, etc...) . I have also stressed that it upsets me when she makes comments about Peri to me like that. Things have been improving each time we are around them.
This past weekend we took a 4-day trip with the inlaws. Mom and dad kept Peri and Taquito. We returned last night and mom told me that Peri was great. She did get into a flower or two, but dad left her outside for tooo long alone. Hence a bored doodle...you all know how that goes!
The best part is that my mom said Peri is so loving and that she follows her around EVERYWHERE. She said she loves Peri and enjoys having her around. Mom's terrier Lucy is not very people driven - she would rather hang out alone outside. Mom's older terrier Jake, who died last summer, was that people dog - he followed my mother everywhere. Mom said Peri's sweet nature reminds her of Mr. Jake. Let me tell you that is the best compliment my mom could ever tell me. She loved Jake with all of her heart.
Can you believe that these words came out of my mother's mouth? Only 3 months ago I was ranting about her not accepting my dog. I know I shouldn't care too much about getting approval like this at my age, but I will tell you, this made my day yesterday! I just watched mom pet her - Peri even sat near her and gazed up at her.
Glad my family sees the beauty in my doodle and wanted to share that with my DK friends!
