Pocket & Pancakes - Pocket's first dig

My first blog post! I just had to share . . .

I was just sitting on the couch and noticed Pocket going into the fireplace, acting sort of strangely. I asked him, "what are you doing?" and he promptly ran to the other room, so I thought nothing of it. Then a few minutes later, he jumps on the couch where his blanket is, and starts digging into to it. I tell him to stop, he flings a corner of it over and runs away. I then went to re-adjust his blanket and find a buried pancake! He had stolen the silver dollar sized pancakes leftover from breakfast off the counter! So, I then go to check out the fireplace, and there is another hidden pancake behind the grate, being saved for a later consumption! Then I see him waiting to be let outside, and so I open the door and he runs to the corner of the yard and starts digging (the first time I have ever seen him dig! He must've thought this was extra special treasure!) and he puts a pancake in there, and then covers the hole using his nose!

WHAT A CHEEKY DOOD! Here is the aftermath, a dirty little mug.

OMD! Pocket just went and retrieved the pancake from its hole in the back yard! I guess he thought he deserved a snack . . .

Pocket is no fool. He realized those other places had been discovered by "the powers that be" and was forced into making new ones.

Pocket says, "I didn't know I had such restraint for a doodle - thanks for all the compliments on my fortitude! Next time I may take your advice and eat them straight away, as the pancakes are now mysteriously missing from my hiding places on the couch and the fireplace. Good thing I buried one in the back!"

Really, though, no other doodles hoard food for later?

Pocket has done this before with kaiser rolls and dog biscuits (fireplace and in his bed), but he has never buried anything before, like he did with the pancakes. I hope he doesn't become a digger!

What a smart doodle. Vern would eat the pancake before it hit the floor. Pocket, it is always good to have a little stash of food around in case of an emergency.

Love the picture, Lilly would not save anything she would of gobbled them all up. Pocket, that is good thinking when you hid them at different places you know what they say " never keep all your eggs in one basket". I hope you still have one hid that nobody could find so you can eat it later.

That's amazing that he didn't eat them and thought about where to hide them for later. That is one smart doodle!
