Bathing my Labs, By Nancy F. Sunderland (Copyrighted-Please do not copy or share)
Oh what a joy, what fun it will be
When my labs, my daughters and me
Decide that the time is now
For our stinky labs to be "wow".
So we chase and we plead,
We push drag and lead.
We tighten the collar
Pull the leash, and then holler.
Finally they're here, tethered though,
Nervous, and really wanting to go.
Far from the porch they'd flee
If they could only run from me.
But a bath they will get!
I hope they won't be too upset...
If the water seems cold
Or I have to get a tighter hold...
The fur it is a flying, the water is a spraying.
My family pretends not to hear what I'm saying,
'Cause I'm asking for a hand
From my laughing, coffee drinking man.
My daughters toss little cups of water
And giggle as they go.
I hope that they don't hear me swearing
And that my fury doesn't show.
But finally it is done. My labs are clean and brushed.
I'm smiling now too. I'm soaked right through,
My lawn has fur, my coffee's surely cold
But after a shower and, a donut or two...
I'll forgive my big ole labs one more.
'Cause a garden hose isn't the same
As a yucky, mucky, stinky pasture pond
And after all, to them it's just a game!
