I just read an article about puppy mills.... It made me want to cry! I found myself browsing petfinder looking for "evacuees". Why do people do this? From what I've learned thus far in the doodle community, it would be tricky to pass off a puppy mill as an in-home breeder. I wish the industry was regulated somehow or something... I fell in love with this girl, I don't know anything about the breed, but boy is she a little cutie! I'm already in hot water for spending so much on my doodle pup, but I couldn't help it, I filled out an application. We looove dogs and have taken in strays before from neighbors. Sometimes people just "drop off" dogs near our farm. Granted, it happens much more often with cats though. oh boy, I feel for these little puppies, but honestly? Even more for the mothers....................... I've had 3 babies in 5 years and nursed all of them for 12 months+..... And my hubby is a dairy farmer, so I have oodles of sympathy/empathy for these mama dogs trapped in captivity........... Ugh, it just breaks my heart.

Why don't we start a "Hit List" or Black List, of all known Puppy Mills?

Chris can you share the name of the breeder (mill) your friends fot theirs from. MAYBE spreading the word about it will help it end.
I wish Vets who make a living off of these places would start sharing who and where they are. They are getting some sort of vetrinary support????

Mickey came from the now history 'Almost Heaven' puppy mill. He was surrendered with his mom and 3 siblings. He brother's new family is now here in DK and he has the same emotional scars as Mickey. Mickey spent 3.5 months at AH and then another month in a shelter. underweight, unsocialized, and fearful of everything. He has been with us for the past 4 weeks and he is unrecognizable as the same scared little boy he was. As I write this, both bigger doodles are wrestling. And Mickey starts it!

I believe that all of the 'humans' who run PMs should spend time in a cell in prison - proportionate in size to what they have their dogs live in.

It's sad that these people go to such lengths to misrepresent themselves... Scratch that, that is far to nice of a word, it's sad that they LIE and DECEIVE so blatantly and repeatedly, shame on them...

Oh, you would be surprised how some of these mills CAN fool you. My friends bought their dog from a breeder with this description on her website "Our puppies are raised in a loving home environment and socialized with our children, my husband and myself. They are handled from the moment they are born, which helps to set the foundation for a wonderful family companion that will provide your family with many years of love, joy, companionship and fun."

Now you would never guess from that description that she has 75 kennels on the far side of their property, that conveniently cannot be seen from their home where they show the puppies.

They can be very clever.

I sympathize with you 100%, and why I did what I did to get Honey and will "NEVER REGRET" saving her!
