We recently realized a huge coincidence that I thought I would share. I can't decide if it's more horrible, or hilarious. I'll let you decide.... :-)

At our old apartment complex, we had a very, very annoying dog living nearby. The culprit?

That's right, a Jack Russel Terrier. Some people love the feisty, fearless attitudes of terriers (I'm not really one of them...) and this dog had absolutely, NO fear. Every time we so much as tiptoed 20 feet away from his apartment, it would set off a loud, barking alarm that lasted over 30 minutes. I'm still trying to figure out how his owners deal with the annoyance. Perhaps he barked so much they are now deaf.... ha ha. Anyways, it was just a constant barrage of barking, ALL THE TIME, and I hated it. When we moved to our new apartment, I was quite happy to leave this behind.

HA! The first night at our apartment, it was around 3:00 am, and we were jerked awake by a horrible, loud, barking. It lasted at least 15 minutes, and by the time it was over, we were of course, completely awake. We were saddened to know that we hadn't escaped the annoying barking.

Fast forward to 3 days later, and I'm baking a cake in my kitchen. I hear that horrible bark again, so I looked out the window to view the culprit. IT WAS THE SAME JACK RUSSELL FROM OUR OLD APARTMENT. Not joking. The same owners were sitting on their porch, feet up on a coffee table, reading the newspaper. Seemingly oblivious to the fact that their dog was barking like a madman. They must have moved in the same 3 days we did, right across from us. They are now even closer than they used to be. How ironic is that? We just can't get away from him! <sigh>

OMG How horrible is that. I am so sorry you have to put up with that. Can you report the barking to the local SPCA. You can do it anonymously I think. Maybe a couple of fines would wake them up.

That is hilarious! But really not so much - sorry. That is annoying. And such a weird coincidence!

Nancie, perhaps you should complain to the city about it? I CAN complain to my complex's office... but I don't know if they would actually do anything. Plus... I should probably say something to them first... it seems more fair. I've considered doing the remote bark thing... but I was worried Darwin would hear it?

I feel for anyone with this problem. Our neighbors have Beagles who can make quite a bit of noise but it has never been intolerable....annoying at times. I have always thought that if you had a real problem with barking dogs you could make a complaint with the local police. Am I wrong? Don't we all have some right to peace?
It doesn't seem right that anyone has to tolerate that kind of disruption. Sending you wishes for quieter times!!!!
(You too Nancie!)

Unbelievable! Maybe you should order or go buy that "Pet Zoom" thing that has the high pitched sound that stops barking. Just make sure you are not standing next to Darwin when you do it. They say you can't hear it but the dogs can. I am getting one and I'm going to stand in front of my neighbors house and use it!! I know what you are going through. Our neighbors have a Rottweiler and a Rat Terrier and just now rescued another...Jack Russell. These people have never socialized their dogs and they have attacked my Gracie Doodle when she was on a leash out in front of our house! They leave their windows open all year and have a house that is all hardwood floors which echo. The three dogs stand in the bayed out living room and bark all day long. They even jump up on the glass windows trying to attack through the glass. The mailman won't go up the walk. They had to put their mailbox down on the street. I HATE these dogs...and their owners! They just sit and let the dogs bark and every now and then they will tell them to shut up but never follow through. I refuse to move. We were here first 35 years ago!

That's just flat out odd! You should buy the dog-bark stopper thing (not my most articulate sentence here) from the infomercial!

Horribly hilarious I'd say. Hope things improve for you!

Oh my goodness! How coincidental is THAT?! I hope you didn't tell her you were moving there and they decided to follow...lol Just makes me wonder how many people actually cross our path every day that we never realize have crossed our paths many times before, Poor you. Maybe you can bake them one of your fabulous cakes with a subliminal (or outright) message to "HUSH"!

Maybe you could leave one of those zappers in their mailbox. They might get the hint.

Poor you & poor Darwin is right! It would drive me bonkers, too.
Maybe you were destined to help these dog owners get a clue?
