... all 70 pounds of her.

For the last year, she's had three occurrences of sebaceous cysts.  We've learned to live with them and are always on the lookout for more.

Three days ago, I felt a bump on her chest.  Must be a cyst, I thought.  Started rubbing it, hoping it would pop.  No such luck.  Then, Penny started licking at it.  NOT. GOOD.

Two days ago, she stopped eating.  And pooping. (Both of my dogs are pooping MACHINES).  I'd hoped I'd return from a business trip last night and she'd be feeling better, but no go.

First thing this morning, off to the vet.  It's not a cyst.  It's a mass... the kind she'll have to have surgically removed next week.  The vet noticed curious looking cells while doing a biopsy -- either it's cancer or pre-cancer.  Either way, the mass has to go.  The vet also said her lymph nodes feel funny (here we go...).

Now giving the Penster Benadryl and Pepcid (for her tummy).  That's helping already, because she ate her breakfast at noon!  Woot!  And she's drinking more.

Fingers crossed it's nothing bad this time around.  But looks like we'll have to be on high alert from here on out with her.

In the meantime, she's digging the fact that she has to wear a T-shirt so that she doesn't lick her wound.  Doesn't she look happy?  :_

So sorry to hear she will need surgery, but it sounds like you noticed it very early so that is always a good thing/

Oh wow...we are keeping our fingers and paws crossed for Penny.  My neighbor's 4 year old Springer had the same thing and the surgery was very successful!  She had a Mass Cell cancer behind her front arm pit.  She is back to normal, running and jumping.  Hugs and kisses to Penny!
