I am Thrilled to say, I have finally seen real progress in Sophia the past few days, yeaahhhh. She finally gets it when I say "NO BITE" and removes her mouth. I have been concentrating on that particular "bad habit" all week and letting some other issues slide, for now. As some of you know, I will be looking after my two young grandbabies and was extremely worried about her nipping/biting issues. I would like to think it is all the training I have done this week BUT, I also may have our neighbours dog, Teeka to thank as well. Teeka is a female Husky and a very very friendly one. She is 5 years old and seems to have taken a liking to Sophia and Sophia loves her back. If Sophia gets a little to nippy, Teeka just sits on her and hisses.. Very funny to watch and it happens numerous times during their play sessions. There has never been any aggression or growling just lots of mouthing, playing and having fun. If Sophia starts to get too worked up, the sitting thing happens. It is almost like giving her a time out..... What ever the case, I am thrilled... to say the very least.
Who better to teach a puppy what NOT to do, than an older wiser dog.
Maybe I won't have to buy the muzzle after all... !!!!

Yeah!!! Hope she keeps it up! Sounds cute!
That's brilliant and very interesting becasue I read somewhere else here that the answer to the nipping and puppy biting was cured by some play time with other dogs! I really hope that this is sorted as it's a worry around little children. Riley puts his mouth on my skin sometimes but doesn't ever bite down I give a big yelp if I even feel his teeth. When he licks me I praise him big time. I do hope you won't need that muzzle.
