I've decided that if I ever rescue a female doodle, or have an opportunity to name one, I'm going to name her Fontella, after Fontella Bass. She sang that song, Rescue Me, in the '60s. Get it? I'll call her Telly for short. I think it's terribly clever. These are the things I think about as I'm driving and changing radio stations.

When anyone asks me where I got his name, I say Quincy ME the tv show or Quincy Jones(the CD collection really is a good place to look for names. Maybe you'll call your next doodle Donna, then you'll have Donna Kennedy and Quincy.LOL

Donna- I smile every time I see your DK name! I have a Quincy too! Our "Quinn" is a girl though and lives in a guardian home with my sister. Her full name is John Quincy Adams. "Why?" you ask. Because her mother is our Kennedy, which happens to be your last name!!

I like Maverick. And then maybe a Rockford, so there would be a pair.

I am also guilty of thinking of dog names all the time. Maybe that's why I had Quincy's name picked 2 years before I got him. It took me 2 years before I was ready to commit to getting a doodle. Good thing it turned out to be a boy. I had no girls names at all. I love when people on DK ask for suggestions, it gives me an excuse to really put some thought into doggy names. I also love to see all the unique names that others come up with. I think when I get my next doodle I will find a Z name. My friend has a sister-in-law named Zaya. I kind of like that.

Great name!! I think of names all the time! I think I put as much time into choosing dog names as I did choosing my kids names! I seriously have a list by my desk that I add to periodically. :o)

Penelope "Pippy"
Landon
Maverick

Reagan
Madison "Maddie"
Harrison "Harry"
The above are for my "presidential" line. :o) (Kennedy's pups.)

I have a friend who says the best way to find names for pets is to look through your CD collection. I agree, and that's where I got the names for any future dogs. But I'm not telling!
Actually, although I didn't really choose Jack's name, it is part of a very famous song, which I do have in my CD collection. It can be found in "The Weight" by The Band.

I named Eddie after my grandpa, and if/when I have a girl doodle, she'll be Betty Lou in honor of my grandma.I don't think Betty Lou would work for a non-doodly dog.

The car, the shower and mowing the lawn are for me the best places to have random thoughts. This is an example of one from none of those situations.

Cool idea!

I love the name Chewie after Chewbacca on Star Wars. My two chocolate doodles look like Chewies, but my kids would not approve of that name for these doods!
