Remington and Phoebe's Swim Date!
Well, I had a great weekend. Not only did I not have to work for the first time in ages I also got to spend good quality time with my doodle!
Brenda from DoodleKisses and I had been talking for some time now about getting together to have our doodles meet. So on Saturday I got Remington settled in the car and drove over to Brenda's house for a swim date! Before I even left the driveway my little Remington Bear was excited. He knows we are doing something fun when he is going on a car ride. So the whole way there he was looking out the window and pacing back and forth in the back seat! Finally we got there....
First, I have to start by saying that Brenda and I had never met before so I was a bit nervous, but I was not disappointed when I was greeted by her at her front door. She was wonderful and so was her family. Remington of course was a ball of excitement when he saw Yogi her Chow Mix.... goodness it is hard to control him when he sees other dogs. We got them into the back yard where they ran off their excitement for a while. After a while the lovely Phoebe was brought out and I got to hold her and admire just how beautiful she really is. She wasn't to sure about Remington though so maybe when she gets a little older things will get better.
After Brenda and I got done chatting away, she asked if I was ready to get them into the pool. She put Phoebe's life jacket on her (she looked so cute) and put her in the pool. I walked into the pool and was trying to talk Remington in. Of course he just still wasn't too sure about it even after swimming in the lake a few weeks ago. But after a little while he decided to take the plunge! Once he did this however he started thrashing toward me and scratched me to DEATH! I still have scratches on my legs, arms, shoulders, neck, and stomach from him trying to get to me. However, I realize he didn't mean to hurt me, he was just scared. Soon he got the hang of things a little better. Brenda would hold on to him while I sat on the steps and then she would let him swim over to me. The first couple of times his little butt sank like a weight, but the last few he seemed to be doing a bit better and staying on top of the water (his whole body). It was fun to watch him learn what he needed to do. After pool time it was back to playing with Yogi, while me, Brenda, Tilley, and Phoebe sat and chatted. It was really a nice way to spend our Saturday.

Once I got Remington home he got a good brushing by his Dad and he was out like a light the rest of the night. He slept on the bathroom floor from the time we got home until the next morning. He was sooooo worn out. But I know he had lots of fun and so did I!
I think once Phoebe is a little bit more his size they will be the best of friends... it's just going to take a few months. Remington was the same way... he just wasn't to sure about those big dogs when he was a little puppy.
The next big adventure is Remington's neutering..... this will be happening within the next 2 weeks... I pray all goes well!

Pictures can be viewed on Brenda's page... I of course brought my camera but forgot the battery since I was charging it before I left... DRATS!

It's so great that you got to meet another DK member on a playdate. Glad it went well. Swimming really does wear them out.

What a fun day ... a DATE for Remington! Little Phoebe is just playing hard to get...Remington has to prove his love and prowess first. How cute =) I want pictures though...did either of you get some shots of the activities?
