Today has been a trying day! UHHHGGG! Remington discovered the love for shoes today and how enjoyable it can be to chew them! I went downstairs in the afternoon to find my CROCS chewed to bits! SERIOUSLY! GRRR! He has becoming a trying teenager! I am at my wits end!!!!!!!!!!! What happened to my perfect angel of a puppy??? Please tell me this is just a phase and he'll grow out of it!

Some other things he has learned to enjoy are the following...

1) grabbing toilet paper on the roll and RUNNING for his life with it!
2) pulling clothes off hangers
3) pulling towels off counters
4) pulling trash such as tissues out of the trash can and eating it!

and the list goes on!

I feel so badly because my days with him have went from very enjoyable to the point where I don't even like being around him! Don't get me wrong... I love him more than I could ever put into words... but my patience with him is running short!

Aren't CROCS meant to be bad for your feet? Maybe Doodles know!

Well CROCS seem to be a Doodle favorite. Harlow has destroyed my sandal crocs as well as the ones I use to use as garden shoes. Also my elk skin slippers, my almost new Rocketdogs and the shoe strings of both pairs of my tennis shoes. Every time DH leaves the closet door open, Harlow grabs one of my shoes. I don't know if I am more frustrated with Harlow or DH!

If Cesar Milan (The Dog Whisperer) is right, exercise is the only answer. I'm sure hoping that Penny doesn't get that way, at 4 months old, she still enjoys sleeping on my shoes, and has never chewed them once.

Exactly, why does it always happen right before bed... Remington is getting to the point that he makes me cry sometimes!

Well you are definitely in the "teenage" phase. I swear that our darling girl would look at me and practically spit in my eye.She managed to ruin a pair of my most favourite dress boots. Opened the door to the closet and .... there you go. She punished my husband for leaving for work by chewing the whole toe out of his moccasins and a brand new pair of his leather shoes. That incident was his fault though he left them in an accessible place. She has also stood up and taken the sponge out of the very deep sink in out kitchen and destroyed it or just carried it for a while. When she was in the doodle from hell phase I purchased waste paper baskets with lids so we didn't have tissues everywhere.
The toilet paper monster is amazing. How in the world do they run so far with it in their mouth and the roll never breaks at any of the perforations. That used to be a bedtime game.

Sadie is now almost three (Nov) and those games are over. I know that it is annoying but you will look back and smile.

It truly is a passing phase.

I'm sorry, I am laughing.......... I have gone through everything you have listed and felt the same way. Lucy will still grab things that she knows she is not allowed to have and runs with it b/c she wants me to get up and go play with her. I does get better, but he will still do it at times just to get to you. They are very smart and know what they are doing. BTW, all of my crocs have AT LEAST one bite out of them!

Kendra - I wish I had good news for you - batten down the hatches and hide all the shoes - don't leave anything out. My 4 yr old doodle Sophie has a shoe fetish - she has eaten the neighbour's Birkenstock - taken it right out the doggie door in our kitchen and when he went to get up to leave, his sandal was outside in pieces. She has recently chewed a new sandal of mine, a friends Italian leather shoe, my daughters friend's AE sandal etc. If anyone even leaves the closet door open a crack - she seems to get a shoe out and sneaks off with it. You have to puppy proof your home and don't leave anything that looks remotely chewable around. Instead, have lots of chewy sticks, pressed bones etc. around for your puppy to pick up and chew. I have a new doodle and he has already taken off with a shoe of mine - learned it from his mother.

Doodles love crocs. Fozzy has eaten three pair!

Crocs must taste awfully good. Calla chewed a chunk out of one of mine. I was so glad it wasn't a better shoe and then she got a chunk out of a leather loafer. I agree it's important to watch them constantly and the quieter things are the more trouble is brewing. I crate her at night still she's 7 months, since I don't want to sleep "with one eye open". Luckily she doesn't object although Luca is free to roam around. eventually they stop, Luca has.

Same for me, first puppy was a breeze, this one does all the things you mentioned and more. All I can say is try more exercise.
